Should the US send ground troops to Israel? Do you think that will happen?

Obviously a lot going on at the moment. At least one carrier is already there and another possibly en route. So far the White House has said ground forces isn't going to happen. Given the Navy presence already, and if needed, should Marines be sent in at any capacity? Anywhere from humanitarian aid and additional security to joint operations with the Israeli military. If things escalate, what about the 82nd and the rest of the big Army?

Humanitarian relief is one thing...I am in favor of that...blood, supplies, food, etc. Keep Iran from directly interfering by standing in the way with carrier groups. Keep the Israelis supplied with weapons and ammo, whatever they need.

We are going to or have US special ops involved in hostage rescues in Gaza. As I understand it Israel doesn’t want troops on the ground other than the special ops.

US Hostage rescue team....yes. Hopefully, they are already in place with Israeli forces right now. But intervention in Israeli military operations is a no-no. It has never worked in the past, as it only results in an escalation in regional fighting with the US ultimately becoming the hated invader at the expense of many US servicemember casualties.

To at a minimum rescue any American hostages? Absolutely. Other than that, Israel hardly needs help.

First off, I do support Isael. Now should we: No. Will it happen? Depends on what transpires on the ground and politically. I also don't want to see 1 US Service member over there as part of a Peacekeeper force either.

Humanitarian Air should be sent to the region. There are plenty of innocent bystanders in this regardless of which side of the fence you are living. The problem is that sending troops would be a short term gain of stability and a long term loss of political points. Sending troops would strain tensions but you would also see escalation against other nations in the region mainly Lebanon and Iran.

Used to be the Stonewall Brigade (116th Inf Regt, 29th Div) had a presence on the Sinai Peninsula. Are they till there to keep the Palestinians out of Egypt? Last I heard, the Palestinians had tunneled under them, kinda like the North Koreans have done on the 39th under the 2d ID.
