Should veterans and retirees be "Triple Dipping?"

It was earned. Stay the course and you can EARN it also.

It's called "I worked for it".

With so many dollars and resources going to illegals...IMO all veterans should be maximizing whatever they can, and chances may be that those getting “extra” might help other veterans with their “extra”.

If someone qualifies under the regulations their lives are definitely challenged. Who the would be against that.

Retired active or other, earned (paid in too). 50% combat or service connected, earned. Often paid with medical damage. Unable to work and qualify for SSI (more likely is SSD), earned and paid in too.

So two are paid through the years of service and working before and after, the third earned through sacrifice.

So again I ask, who would be against that.

If a civilian works at two locations for 10 or more years they will receive two pensions (or something similar). If they get injured on the job they will also qualify for workman’s comp, leading to SSD. What’s the difference!

Triple dip? How about quadruple dip? Some Veterans qualify for all of the following -

1. Military retirement pay.
2. VA disability compensation.
3. US Government civil service retirement.
4. Social Security.

Yes you earned it get it and feel no Remose. Here is another Bennie most retirees ( Vietnam Vets) don't know about. Im 100% VA, SS ( because Im 75) and retired after 23 years. I was talking to a Sp Ops CSM and he asked if my VA Dis was due to Agent Orange, I sad yes. (Hart ) he told me to check in to having my Army Retirement Changed to CSRC. It seems that Agent Orange exposure is considered Combat related (WIA) and makes you Army Retirement Tax Exempt and No VA Offset, as an E8 it amounted to $235a month raise, and makes my income from SS too low to even file Taxes.

FOr everything THEY put us through...the things we did, the pain, the wounds the stress, the utter fright...yea, we should be getting a LOT more. They swore they would take care of us...but near poverty level ?????

I'm retired military, recieve 20% disability from the VA, and I work for MSC. If people don't like someone like me triple dipping, I don't care.

Several issues to review
1. Military Retirement
You put the time in, you earned the benefits.
2. VA Disability
A separate program based not on time of service BUT on a rating established by a separate government agency regarding the individual's injuries related to service in the armed forces.
3. SSDI (NOT SSI, a low income disabilities assistance program).
The US Government has been taking this TAX out against us since before I started working (pre-military 1970's). It is controlled by a separate government agency than the 2 above listed agencies. Their criteria is not the same as the VA's, even if they accept the VA rating decision. VA ratings and SSDI ratings may/usually will have divergent points of focus, even if the criteria is shown by the medical decision of the the 2nd agency.

Further, you can actually have 4X dippers who will also draw state or federal civil service pay and or retirement benefits.

We are told in in the Military that if you earned it wear it. What’s the difference.

For any of us that served that qualify for this then none of us are "getting over" anything as people are prone to say. When these people were working 9-5 and sitting home on their couches at 5:30 we were all out in B-F-E serving in conditions that not a damn one of them would even dream of doing! It always galls me when people at my work say "must be nice getting a retirement check too" like I got it for free!
