Should veterans and retirees be "Triple Dipping?"

I'll add to this discussion. I spent 27 years in the Army, and was honored to do it. So, I'm over fifty when I retire, I have sleep apnea, missing a lone of my right lung, have bilateral anurrisms, a bad back, knees and ankles. I could fall over dead tomorrow, not supposed to lift anything over thirty pounds and if I drive for more than ten minutes, my right leg is killing me. I have a 70% rating. I have been told it should be higher, made the mistake of filling an appeal and after two years of waiting they send me a packet telling me to beg a little more. I'll not do it. The VA medically great, admin is horrible!!!

I am try to triple dip.

As a veteran, and combat Marine, when I joined, I was assured that I would be taken care of. I got laid off last year and when I talked to the VA, I was told I was ineligible for benefits. When is this acceptable?

Who cares I get my retirement from the army, the va pays my disability which I think is fair because of all the shit asked of me and givin by me for this country and since I paid my ssi tax my whole working life from 16 to 18 at my jobs while still in high school then my 25 yrs active duty plus my 2 yrs as a defense contractor and from my part time job I think that my ssi should be mine instead of given to those who didn't earn my money meaning any one else but me son any one who says different can kiss my ass

If you meet the qualifications to receive multiple types of compensation I don't see the issue. How can you be "scamming" if the entities that make the rules determine that you are qualified to be a "double" or even "triple" dipper? How is this any different than big businesses or wealthy individuals receiving tax breaks or using loopholes that are in place that others don't get. You will never have rules and regulations that will please everyone. It's a fact, there will always be someone getting more or less than someone else. I for one am thankful for my retirement pay and VA disability payments. I earned them. With cost of living these days, fortunately, it covers my monthly expenses.

If legitimate medical personnel determine that you deserve, need, earned, etc. these benefits, then those Veterans should absolutely get them. Why would be expect those Veterans who paid a higher price than the rest of us to live at, or below, the poverty level? And that's where many end up! If you don't believe me, go check out the homeless! Many of them are Veterans. Sure, there are some who abuse the system(s). But that's not reason enough to judge all Veterans for those rotten apples!

I am a Clinton's army vet. No rating, no retirement, no SSI. I don't deserve any of it. But the combat vets, the retirees and the disabled deserve way more than the triple dip check provides. I interact with vets everyday at my job and see so many cases of them getting the short end for the sacrifices they made.

sorry, some of us actually served in war time and sacrificed our bodies for uncle sam, not just our physical health but our mental health. so who ever wrote this little article must not have ever deployed. not only did we sacrifice all that, but we sacrificed relationships with our family.SO YEAH WE DESERVE IT AND THEN SOME! SO YEAH TRIPLE DIP, MORE POWER TO YA! so the next guy thats wants to complain about triple dipping, go jump in an ice cold lake and drown yourself!!!

The sacrifices and injuries some veterans have deserve this and more. I dont even understand why this is a subject anyways. If you meet the requirements justified by medical personnel be my guess and enjoy life to the fullest. You deserve it!!!
