We hear about how all these Vets are triple dipping, but I don't think people are educated on how hard it actually is to do this, and how very small of a percentage of people can qualify to do this.
You have to meet all of these requirements: Serve over 20 years, receive a 50% or more VA Rating, be deemed unemployable or 100% disabled by the VA, AND qualify for SSI benefits.

Hi , I'm a national Guard member from new york, I am 90 % combined total disability. I don't have 20 years but I am still in pending seperation and med board, seperation because I'm using cannabis to help me with my physical and mental pain. Just came off a shoulder surgery LOD, knee surgery end of April, LOD, back pain that can't be fixed because of extreme risk factors, sleep apnea, severe ptsd with alcohol and cannabis disorder and the list continues. Used to take my 18 pills and drink my bottle of tequila, gallon size. Now for people to say we don't deserve or this triple dipping crap. You need to realize what we went through or going through. Us veterans are entitled to this even though we still get shitted on. So whoever is making this shit up need reevaluate there research.

I get 100% from the VA and SSI. Was injured while in, only did seven years. The Navy retired me but I gave up E-5 pay for medical insurance for the family.

It is not "triple dipping" to get all the benefits you are entitled to. That's equivalent to saying no you shouldn't get disability benefits while using the GI Bill and getting your degree/trade.

IF you qualify, then you qualify. Nothing wrong with following the rules in place that allows such a thing to happen. If anyone doesn't like that it is allowed don't go hard at the folks smart enough to figure out how, and change the system.

I have a scare where the tip of my tailbone made it through my skin on onto the pavement from jerking situps for the PT test. I will be in pain the rest of my life. I figured out how stupid it was to play tuff and not claim disability when my unemployment ran out. I very nearly ended up on the side of the road panhandling.

I have held back on this, but, here goes. Triple dipping?
So, someone did what qualifies for three compensations. If he/she earened each why should he/she not be paid each?
Where there was overlap, the pay IS decreases as our lawmakers have seen fit.
I truly don't think we should be criticizing people for receiving what has been deemed owed.

I think a lot of people get bent out of shape when they see someone getting something they are not. Nevermind the facts, he has a new F350 and gets to stay home all week and that just is not fair. Sure, some play the system and get over but I'd wager that many never asked for it but someone looked out for them.

If you meet all the requirements and are able to triple dip. Rock it, apparently you've served enough in those capacities and deserve it. Congrats to you.

When I got out in 1985 I recall the lady at the Physical Place stamping my paperwork: No Permanent Profiles, No Reason for Disability. I asked why did she do that because I had a permanent profile on my right knee and lower back since knee surgery in May 1981. I was told it was not in my records and I needed to have the Veterans Administration (VA) take care of it. When I reported to the VA I was told I should had made the Army take care of it before I got out. Right there I realized I had been screwed! I asked about my Medical Board and was told I should've had the Army take care of that also. I have some 'STUFF' wrong with me today that it would had taken a Medical Board to listen to and make a determination on my Medical Conditions. There is a man named Douglas at the Decatur, Georgia Facility who seem to take special interest in denying my claims for disability. I had a doctor at Tuskegee began to curse and say nasty things under his breath all because I didn't have my x-rays when I reported to him. I explained why I didn't have the x-rays like the technician told me to explain but that didn't help. I was only getting 10% disability at the time and after that doctor visit, the VA took the 10%. I did three years as a Fire Direction Specialist (FDC 13E 20) in Artillery before doing five years as a Photojournalist in Public Affairs (71Q 30). Many of my Physical Injuries came during my time in Artillery. It was as a Photojournalist in Public Affairs in Korea where I picked up some Medical and Mental problems. I get 40% and it took several letters to various people to get the VA to bring me to 40% and that's still not correct. I was told had I returned home to Chicago I would had been rated 100% with no problem. Now I hear the VA wants to get rid of the very few Medical Boards they still hold. It was a CW1 who refused to let me see a Specialist at the Hospital where I was stationed. This 'CRAP' about Double or Triple Dipping is a bunch of BULLSHIT! I always see where some Officer make statements trying to take away Benefits. I don't like talking Religion or Politics. However, so many low-rate Mr. Obama and want to lay so much at his feet and it should simply be placed at the feet of the Republican Party since neither Bush is around anymore. Had a Democrat not been elected in 2008 Our Military would be fighting in more places along with where they're at now. They put plans in order to began reducing the Forces but still had Our People fighting. I did a "Letter'-to the -Editor when I saw these two Special Operations Soldiers who one had four tours in a hostile place and the other was on his fifth when they both were killed. Such BULLSHIT ONCE AGAIN! Even with Our reduced forced, we have the ability to go in and put an end to these little wars our people are fighting. Our Congress wants our People to fight a 'Gentlemen' War but they're dealing with people who are only taking advantage of our people hands being tied. Check it out, You'll see it's TRUE!!
