Should Veterans feel bad about being awarded and receiving VA disability compensation for non-combat related injuries?

Not at all. All of the chemicals I was exposed to as an Aircraft mechanic for my first 6 years are now banned and cause short-term memory losses and other neurological issues so I don't feel bad.

Yes. I have known several vets over the years getting disability for stupid things they did, (for example, getting drunk and breaking a wrist) and they got 30%. That's bullshit as far as I'm concerned. If you have a "job related" (not necessarily combat because we all weren't in combat billets), you should qualify for disability. But not because you got hurt or developed a disease while you happened to be in the military.

I've known women vets who are at 100% for migrains once a month... i also work with a 100% disabled AF vet, who gets it for his mental (asperger) health.. how does that crap qualify??????

No, believe me permanent disabilities don't change as you age remember you will only get worst, there are only certain employee's will hire the disabled, they may not tell you to your face, but you will get passed over for a job opportunity ever time.

II was a Volunteer Service officer here at my local VA a good many of the vets working are getting 100% service connected and get both if they retire from the VA

Not if the injuries come from there service. Look at all the Infantryman that there knee's and back's are screwd up from just doing there everyday jobs or the Medic Backs That are messed up because they carry combat load pulse the AID bag's

Wait until you are in your fifties. I do not mean that in any spiteful way, but the four years I spent in the infantry have taken its toll on my knees, back, and neck. However, I would not trade it for anything!

Some injuries are unavoidable and deter from a productive service to Family after the battle...
