I.E. Veterans get to vote and to hold public office. No one else. Because they have paid for the privilege, and because no one should command troops who has not been a troop. Lets please don't get off on whether it's a right or a privilege, it is whatever Congress votes that it is.

I'm not getting represented now, as far as I'm concerned, but no lie, I didn't think of that. We get around everydamnthing else, though, unless the meaning of "infringed" is something not in any dictionary. So how about voting for representatives in an "Advisory Congress"--no real power over national issues but can talk all they want and be on CSPAN.

MSgt J D McKee There are no easy, simplistic answers. Consider though that this country wasn't growing into the economic super power that it is until conservative influence had time to show effect. You can't start and grow a country doing the foolish things A.O.C. champions.

So only able bodied people have a voice in your society? Those who can contribute MORE with their minds and voices don't matter because they cannot or will jot contribute with their bodies?

MSgt J D McKee No vote means no voice. At least none where it really matters.

To me, Socialism did not ever make sense even before it fell on its' face in the Soviet Union and elsewhere. People aren't ants. Not many people will work to their best effort if there are others getting the same reward for much less effort. And, the sort of self-centered drivel-spouters that floated to the top in socialism reminds me of many of the politicians we see now. I guess we need a system where shit don't float.

MSgt J D McKee Heinleinian political theory is just as idealist as socialism. That is my point. It sounds good and can even be justified on paper. But in reality, when dealing with real people and real human shortcomings, it is DOA.

Seriously---any human system of government or anything else is gonna be fucked up by both sides of the bell curve IE not the middle. People too stupid to function (some of those are all over TV and HTF did they get elected so many times) on the low side and people smart enough to make everything go their way and pass on to descendants, creating an aristocracy. Or the 1%. Or whatever else one might call it. Even happened in socialism.

The only way to really get rid of aristocracy (whatever you call it) is to go to a creche system where children are raised by the state. And, oh fuck no, I am in no way saying that should happen. Everyone on subjected to that would get molested and bullied into insanity before they were 18.
