Recent research in the past few decades has shown overwhelming evidence that a focus on positive outcomes of actions and a positive work environment drives better results over time. Should we introduce training on positive psychology to our leaders through professional military education programs?

Yes, I know we should. It has helped me and others in personal growth and learning what you can control, your thoughts and what you can't other people.

Most NCO programs have military oriented programs touching in this area. No need to get softer (not meant to sound patronizing) or more touchy freely. I believe (one mans opinion) that we have made too many changes to fast without time for all leaders to catch up. The CSM TRADOC and the stag have done a great job keeping pace. Thank you for your service.

Thanks for the feedback, CSM! CPT Jared Speaks (HaHah) “spoke” well with explaining it.

Positive psychology isn’t going soft per se, it’s merely a different approach to solving the same challenge of developing leaders of soldiers.

It should be included in the leadership classes. My leadership courses were vague and nebulous.

I think that’s the problem with most of the Army leadership courses. They talk about good ideas all day but never discuss ways to make them happen

The way I see leadership courses are examples of a leader who was victorious. However, at the time we take the course, we have very few leaderships skills to understand the examples of leadership.
