Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

What the f%$ck is going on in the military. I am retired, thank God. Let those nee guys go to combat, just like every other soldier did to earn their combat patch. The army is not in the business of being sensitive, and not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings. The army is in the business of war and defending the nation period. WTF.

Fuck that my unit and myself earned our combat patch through blood sweat and tear in Iraq it’s tradition in the army to have one once you deploy to take it away is gonna affect the soldiers who’ve earned the right to wear a combat patch more than the privates who feel “Left out for not having one” to then we say suck it up do your job do as you told And one day you may have the honor and privilege or serving your country in a combat environment and EARNING your own combat patch -Spc 101st Airborne Divit

I think they should go away for a different reason. I Don't think soldiers need to walk around wearing their resume on their service uniform. Save that "bling" for the dress uniform.

Are you fucking kidding me? The “New Army” is to fucking soft. Why do people think to soften the military to have more people join then making the recruits just suck it up? I wouldn’t want to have one of them as my battle while being in a firefight.

I remember when this happened. Earning ribbons or patches doesn’t and shouldn’t have anything to do with your feelings. Either you earned it or you didn’t.
I joined the Marine Corps before 9/11 and you rarely saw people with any ribbons at all. Then people starting coming back with ribbons and CARs. They didn’t give them to people so they felt better about their place in the Corps. You either rate or you dont.
If you can’t handle not having something you didn’t earn you are gonna have to come to terms with that on your own

Should be a motivational and teaching moments for the new soldier. Plus, it's an ARMY tradition that shouldn't be broken.

You don't get a participation trophy! Don't worry Private, you'll get a combat patch, and may regret what it took to get it!!

Whoever came up with that suggestion needs to get out!! Those along with coins are symbols to be respected..... we are not a "all participants get the same thing" sort of agency

Screw that! Everyone of us earned that and it is an authorized item and part of the uniform. These punks have no clue. It’s like asking a Ranger or Green beret to remove their Special forces or Ranger Tab, because you feel left out. I call BS, then you want that go get it like the rest of us did!
