Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

This is ridiculous. You got some soldiers making excuses to get out of deployment and now you got soldiers with hurt feelings so now we got to cater to their feelings.

Every new soldier I have had always cries about something why don’t I have that or what not next thing you know the will cry about pay. Combat patches are earn with your duty spent overseas in combat and in support of combat

They should quit their whining.
Those who have them have earned them and are entitled to wear them for life.
If the newbies can stay in long enough they can earn them as well

Sorry E-1 and E-2 don’t deserve a patch unless they get deployed. As you advance in rank you will get the patche which is privelege you earn. Boo hoo if they get their feelings hurt. It’s time for them to grow up.

Yeah when I was in the Army in the 80's Vietnam vets had combat patches, we didn't. We looked up to and worked to gain their respect. The way the world is now, these whiners will be deployed soon enough.

I remember once someone tried telling me to take off mine because of new kids. I told them no and showed them in the reg where it was my choice. I also told them if they really wanted to make the new kids not feel left out, than everyone with a Ranger tab needs to take that off as well.

It's the U.S. Army. Not the Salvation Army. Check your feelings at the door. I was also a Drill Sergeant. You wanna stop wearing that's as well? Why even have a any dress uniforms? Don't want anyone getting their feelings hurt while wearing that uniform to events. WTH?

What are they whining about. I never claimed about not having a patch I always picked the brains of those folks in case I had to go. Then when I served my time and earned mine I understood them and passed my wisdom down to the new troops
