Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

I’m AF. I started in Reserve and had opportunity to go active. Never had a Specialist patch/badge for many years and the AF starts adding more specialist badges.. Ours for services would of been effective Jan ‘85. Well they didn’t have enough done up, so they made them retroactive so even Vets in Veteran Service orgs could get them and be noted on a DD 215.. I finally got some and one of them I proudly wear on my V.F.W. Uniform.. another I wear on my Unofficial
VSO Cover.. I get guys who ask what it’s for. I say Services. I served as a 62270
Cook/Baker Supervisor. Now it’s 3 M. All part of shortening labels. Maybe make more room on the computer..? Anyway I’m proud of what I did; providing sustenance to all that came in our facilities.. I also am a Degreed Chef..
and Restaurant Mgr. I had some patches embroidered on my Chef Jackets (chance of catching the badge on s’thing was too good and losing it in the Food. I have my services badge with my rack as shown here..

I would be interested to know if the idiot who decided this policy actually had a combat patch themselves. Maybe it had less to do with new soldiers than it did with him/her.
Then we might as well remove everything, an E1 has just the NDSM. So I guess that’s all we should wear. Duh

This should not be a question that needs to come up at all. When I came into the Army back in 2004 and noticed a lot of combat patches around me from those that deployed, I seen it as a direction of who to speak with on questions I have. I knew what it meant to have a combat patch, and was in no rush to receive one, nor be similar to everyone else around me. Most of the new recruits that I have seen before I got out a few years ago always wanted to "prove" their patriotism by wanting to deploy. From friends that I have that are still in, most of them now have a sense of entitlement with their only accomplishment being making it out of basic. It's getting sadder by the day what a lot of my battles are going through with the babying that is being passed along our military

Damn! These people need a life. They want to be recognized but not do the work to earn same. TTSTKBTMISS!!! Get over your selves. MSG for them to get included, perhaps they need to ask questions and seek the wisdom of the veterans. Keep the patches on. They need to engage and learn NOT WHINE!!!

Get rid of tabs and qualification badges while you're at it. I don't have them, and it hurts my feelings when I see others wearing them.

Why the hell would that even be a question? If you arent a combat vet your not a combat vet. If you served your time honorably thats all that matters.
