Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

It they can't have a combat patch because they weren't in a combat engaged unit then give them a hankie to cry into. Maybe they could also have a pacifier to help that terrible hurt from not getting a patch. Imagine wanting a participant patch when You didn't even participate, Boo, Hoo, maybe they should grow up and try to be adults !
I wouldn't even want a patch, T shirt, hat or anything for a unit or qualification I wasn't part of, I feel its and insult to those that were there !

Heck to the no! I don't have a deployment patch, but I will wear one when I EARN it. Let's get back to a culture of striving and achieving.

They just did the promotion system like that as well....feels like they are punishing the ones who deployed because others didn't......not fair at all....hell no they shouldn't......earn your keeps just like the rest of us did

OH FREAKING WELL, it is earned, I think I would have fought that. Reg say I can and I earned all 3 of mine. 1 in combat, other 2 in the combat area! I know the unit that you speak of! Did they remove there CIB's also! Just because some little pansy a$$ didn't earn it, they will get their chance! Get over it!

SGT Bryon as well as all of the rest of you men and women still serving, I can only thank you for what you are doing and prey you exit the military healthy and as happy as the day you came in (that is before you met your DI's and that attitude they cut loose on ya).

If ANYONE feels negative from seeing someone else wearing a combat patch - then they should remember that the very patch they see is what gives them the right to feel negative.

PVT Mark Zehner why would someone's combat patch make someone feel bad? I seriously don't even have a clever joke about it because it is just a weird question. I mean, should they take away the expert and sharpshooter medals too so the people who barely qualified won't feel bad for being a just barely kind of soldier? Just ludicrous!

WTF!!!!! Grow the Hell up!!! This isn't a ARCOMM or a NAM or a Good Conduct ribbon. These "BOOTS" have no idea in hell what it takes to "earn" one of those. I wish I didn't have one. I'd not have the bad memories I have of some of the crap I saw. Tell them the movies are BULLSHIT. And the guy bragging about how he was John Wayne in combat is a BIG BULLSHITTER. I'm shutting up now, cause if the BOOTS are hurt because they don't have a patch on there shoulder, then I would REALLY hurt their feeling on what I want to say.

Really? More inclusiveness and concern over others sensitivity..... It's the freaking military. Should I worry cause I earned the expert marksman badge and others couldn't. Get over it. Suck it up and mover forward. Do the job and eventually you will get recognized for YOUR achievements and not ride on the coat-tails of others achievements.

Why the hell are you worried about the sensitivity of someone who has not served in a combat zone? Those snowflakes and other soldiers who have hidden in units to avoid a deployment have no honor or integrity. I will not give up my combat patches to ease an idiots sensitive feelings. This comes in due to the fact that there is no discipline in BCT, training, and no respect for those who placed their lives on the line. So MSG Wally Carmichael if this offends you you are not a good leader. If it offends those ignorant E1's and E2's then so be it, they need attitude adjustments and wall to wall counseling. If you are only bringing this up as the issue was at Ft. Riley if I recall what my daughter told me then the shitty leaders and leadership there should be drummed out of the service. The Army is not a democratic organization , it is dictatorial. As a leader and an officer I do not care about someones hurt feelings because they never did anything to earn it. There is no room in the Army for liberalism, it is counter to the good order.

We all know over the last few decades liberalism has crept into policy making areas, and yes, this includes the military. Apparently, the leadership demanding this is nothing more than a liberal nest of pacifists whose belief is if you control one small area, it will build to a much larger area until they’ve finally taken over all reasonableness and can further dictate a damaging agenda.
