Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

No. You earned that combat patch and you should be someone that the new guys should look up to. I know I did and I had a little more respect for combat vets I served with.

Hell no. I would've been one w/o a patch. Folks should be proud of what they've earned and others should respect what has been earned by others, rather than be jealous or feel left out. This is one step removed from military folks no longer wearing ribbons, medals, etc. What of jump wings when an airborne soldier is stationed among mostly non-airborne? It would get ridiculous and I don't see it as promoting cohesiveness and teamwork, but, rather, perhaps causing resentment of those who earned the badges.

They'll be alright. Smh stems from the new gen "everybody gets a trophy" new wave crap. In my days you lost you ate it (Wasn't always sweet) but wasnt supposed to be that way next time around you would try harder to try not to taste DEFEAT.

LOL...!!!
Again, this comes from the attitude of a generation or more of children that were raised to all get 'participation awards' without any real competition for an award.
Combat patches are issued to those who face something beyond a regular 9-5 day (or in the military a 5-9 day)...
If the rest are that interested in getting shot at;
... they can patiently wait until they get sent into someplace nasty for 12-18 months, go through what a deployment like that entails, and actually earn something that all of the others will then want to go to the PX and purchase for themselves to show off to their girlfriends or boyfriends later on.
I have a sign on my back porch from one of my last units...

This question should be removed- maybe repost on something more appropriate like the duffleblog. This is a joke

If you have one or many right shoulder combat patches as well as deployment awards to CBS to CIBs to Airborne to Air Assault badges if YOU EARNED IT YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO WEAR IT and all those who remained in the rear with the beer should be proud of whatever their contributions and support was...stop trying to make everyone "feel" special
