"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

It just kills me to see Politically Correct questions like this on Rally Point. Why do we feel we need to cater to a bunch of snot nosed, cry baby, bed wetters for not having a combat patch. I used to look up to those guys before earning mine as an inspiration of courage, and commitment to my brothers in arms. I aspired to be like them, proud and honored yet quiet and humble; next these Troops are going to want "Participation Medals" for learning to tie their boots with the laces crossing right over left from Basic Training.

Not only no but FUCK NO! Never be ashamed of what you've earned and never hide it for anyone.
I served 1982-1985, Cold War no combat... never got called. I earned one ribbon (Sea Service Deployment), I'm no less of a Marine, just had different experiences during my tour. You want combat patches? Quit being a whiny bitch and go earn 'em!

I didn't have a combat patch. Instead I had Air Force Wings. Basic Crewmember and Flight Nurse Wings. I earned them. My Soldiers knew I earned them. My soldiers wore their combat patches. Of course they wore them.

A combat patch is an elite symbol of those who served, a band of brothers and sisters of that timed served as well

Never, you earned it, wear it proudly. It inspires younger troops. But if you do have one , now days You could have personal issues

Combat patch earned is a combat patch worn. When I came in we had Viet Nam combat troops and no one said a thing because we knew it was earned and respected.

No because it motivates young soldiers to want to serve in theater to earn theirs. Unlike the pogues hiding out in the Pentagon, TRADOC, etc... Otherwise, what's the point of joining combat MOS/CMFs like 11B infantry, armor, etc... Might as well take away Combat Infantry Badges/CAB, EIB also. Right? Wrong! You need to keep these uniform accouterments as it signifies what these soldiers have earned so they can be proud of themselves for earning these and be able to wear it on the uniform at the same time. Combat patch(es) is the perfect example.
