Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

AR 670-1, Chapter 21-17c.
"Soldiers who are authorized to wear more than one SSI–FWTS have the option of choosing which SSI–FWTS they will wear. Soldiers may also elect not to wear a SSI–FWTS."

I doubt the Soldiers were ordered to take theirs off. But if they were, I would have demanded a written order. Any UCMJ action attempted by a Commander for not taking off the SSI-FWTS patch should have, if it did in fact happen, been met with resistance.

SSgt Liberty Vallance-- These are B-58 Hustler Bombers from Bunker Hill Air Force Base in Indiana and Little Rock Arkansaw, but in the end they all ended up in the grave yard in Arizona, such a sad day, but the B-52 guys were happy as hell.
