Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

What the hell?????? That patch is MINE and I earned it fair and square- camel spiders and all! I refuse to change my identity to be "sensitive" to anyone and everyone who are feeling put out by my achievements.

Absolutely not. Why in the world would I lower my standard for personal recognition to someone that hadn't earned any?

This is freaking ridiculous. Those patches were earned. They are not hand outs.

NO.
Who are the weak-minded 'people' who voted yes? It's not funny, it's pathetic even one person would think so. If awards and participation trophies are more your thing, you shouldn't have joined and should get out asap. Save the rest of us.

Having a “combat” patch doesn’t mean anything. If that offends some people then, well, sorry the truth hurts sometimes. Most people get combat patches because they simply met the regulation the governs who can get one. It doesn’t mean they are special or have actually been in real combat. Everyone earns what they earn and should be proud of it. Having a SSI is nothing to be worried about. Some “earn” a SSI for just roughing it in places like Kuwait, Qatar, and Africa; trust me, they will tell you about it daily on Facebook. While others are in COPs, getting shot at and mortared daily are awarded the same SSI as anyone else. Be proud of true personal achievements, but be humble if you know differently.

The new kids need to shut up...if they want a combat patch, they should hop on the next deployment and earn it. I never felt left out because I didn't have a combat patch, I just waited for my time to deploy.
