BEEN INTHE MILITARY FOR 32 YEARS. 14 YEARS IN THE NATIONAL GUARD AND 18 ACTIVE DUTY, OUT OF THE 18 YEARS I BEEN A SSG FOR 10 YEARS NEVER OVERWEIGHT, ALLWAYS PASSED APFT WITH OVER 270 AND ALL MY NCOERS HAVE BEEN ALL 1-1 HAVE SERVED IN FOUR E7 SLOTS, RATED BY 4 CSM, THERE NEEDS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO RATE NCO'S, NOW I DON'T WANT TO BE PROMOTED AWAITING 1 YEAR TO RETIER

As you know promotions are slightly different between the Guard/Reserves and Active Duty. Do I think the system for Active Duty promotions needs to be overhauled or revised yes. What would make it fair across the board I do not have a clue. My only think is if you are promoting off time in grade alone you are wrong because there are some mediocre NCOs out there that do not need to advance.
