Hey everyone. I was wondering your suggestions. Say I go to BOLC for 4 months. What are your suggestions as to car insurance? I won't have my POV on post so what would you suggest? Get rid of it for the 4 months I'm gone or keep it?

Don't cancel your policy. Several insurance carriers factor into their rates long you have had continuous coverage. Your rates post-BOLC would only go higher. I would just strip down my coverage to state minimums with respect to liability and remove the collision coverage.

CPT (Join to see) CPT (Join to see) I agree. Plus the fact that leaving your car sitting uninsured is just asking for someone to damage it in some as yet unthought of way. Better not to have a surprise bill, and headache, during BOLC, or when you return.

CPT (Join to see) - I would recommend calling your insurance agent though, they might give you a discount for a couple of months... never hurts to ask.

If you are going to drive at all, you need to maintain your car insurance. Period. If you are going to store your car, most companies will offer you storage insurance which is magnitudes cheaper than full coverage and there is no lapse in coverage. That is what I did when I stored my vehicle for my 2 combat tours and 2 overseas short tours. If you have USAA ask them about it.

Why wouldn't you have your car? You will need someway to get around from the hotel to class and when you are off.

CPT (Join to see) - That makes sense. I would try to find a way to either get the car fixed or acquire a new one. It sucks being stuck in a hotel without a vehicle.

Are they giving BOLC students CNAs to stay in hotels now? When I was in OBC, forerunner of BOLC, students stayed in the Q. I knew NO ONE that tried to get a CNA for a hotel.
