What small arms did you train in,(include them all) and during what era?
I'm looking for ITR/AIT training not a specialized MOS weapons system.
I'm curious how this has changed over the years among the branches.
I once taught a class in the .30 MG 1917 to MACV because it had gone out of their inventory.

That's what's so great about being around MPs Lots of cool weapons. Never got my hand on a "Ma Duce" though.

Nothing quite like that organ thumper. I wonder how many generations it will be around? It sure says a lot about John Browning's skills.

John Moses Browning was a God in the area of fire arms engineering. he has not 1 but 2 designs that have lasted to be centurions. Eugene Stoner was another that falls in this class of engineer and to think we were blessed with both of them :)

I was trained on the 1911, M9 (At PDS), M16, M60, M2, 90MM recoilless, MCLC (not really small arms, At PDS), 40MM, LAW, SAW, AT4(At PDS). I was also trained in various forms of explosives and mines being a Combat Engineer at PDS. There were other weapon system we did "familiarization" training with in Germany just to shoot them. I cant remember the nomenclature though. A lot of them were from foreign armies.

Is that something that ALL basic army would be trained in?
What I am looking for are the weapons before you are sent to a specialist or MOS school.

You asked for AIT and I would assume that Engineer AIT would familiarize in this. Our Basic/AIT was combined to run concurrent. I don't know how the Marines do it. Its been a long time though. Maybe a current or newer Engineer can chime in.

I was afraid of this. The differences in the nature of Marine and Army training are gonna trip me up.
All Marines basic infantry with MOS and secondary schools after slightly different Infantry training regiments.
Example:
Boot: M14, M1911
ITR: M1, M1917,M60, BAR, LAW, 3.5 Rocket launcher, M79, Flame thrower, grenades, basic demo.
Primary MOS: Tank crewman basic training in onboard weapons. 90mm, .30MG, .50MG, .45 SMG
Secondary MOS: advanced M2 .50 MG school.
RVN staging: M16
OJT: every Chi-com weapon made.

I see what you mean. My Basic/AIT back in '87 was consecutive. Every Soldier has the same Basic training I believe to break them down and build you back up. The MOS specific training is done at the same place,,, At least it was for me at the time. It might have changed though
