Who is more highly respected? A Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, A Warrant Officer, or a Commissioned Officer? And Why do you believe this?

I respected my leaders, but mostly the junior Enlisted. They were the front line and without them nothing got accomplished. Especially those with dependents; living from check to check, but putting in an honest day's work day after day.

Come aboard a ship of the Navy or Coast Guard. Come to a Navy or Coast Guard base or installation. Officers receive salutes. CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS receive admiration and awe!!!!!!!!

All are respected, but the Army Warrant is the "go to guy" in his field. What he doesn't know hasn't been written. Because the Warrant wrote the book. Everyone needs to know what WOPA stands for and how it works, better sooner than later.

For the Army, in combat arms the SNCO, in the technical fields it's the Warrant Officer. I cannot speak for the other branches.

I think I would rather give my opinion of Commissioned Officers and CWOs. I personally have the highest respect for Warrant Officers. By the time you're authorized to try and get a commission as a CWO, you've had years of experience in our (enlisted) boots. A CWO is usually the ultimate subject-matter and can relate with us in a level that most traditional Commissioned Officers really can not. Most Mustangs in general I believe are the best kind of leaders. Remember there's a difference between sympathize and empathize, a person who can sympathize has been in your boots and truly understands, the other may not. I tend to hear more political answers from the traditional Commissioned Officers. They work and live in a different world, so to speak. Most CWOs I have known are real with you and, as I said before, they can relate with us better.

On the other hand, I just read CSM (Join to see)'s response; and I fully agree with him on that! XD

It is tough to say that any one of these are more important than the other. Experience and competence are and have always been the more respected qualities of any person in the Armed Forces. Whereas an experienced NCO may look at a Butterbar as nothing more than a fratboy with some bling, an experienced Major will receive a much different reaction from them. A SNCO has a tendency to get a great deal of respect from their subordinates, but this is not the case if the SNCO is focused on the ranks above them rather than the ranks in their care. Then again, I have run into my share of Butterbars that have had an, "I'm here to learn" attitude and have become great Officers (I can think of a couple of troops of mine that became Officers that I'm very proud of). It's all about the individual.

I completely understand your perspective. I should have clarified by saying the rank alone... not who's wearing it.

I believe it depends on the individual but openly, I will have the utmost respect for the most senior officer's "position and rank".

A leader who takes care of his or her people always...rank isn’t a consideration

Not voting but remember the strength of the military is enlisted at E4. junior enlisted is the strength. I have a lot more respect for commissioned officers and warrant officers who were enlisted first. They know both sides and can use there best judgment even those who deployed enlisted and commissioned afterwards are great leaders
