So a lot of people retire at twenty and move to Fleet Reserve. When do you get your official retirement certificate and how?

I am was lead to believe that after you reach thirty years you will receive a certificate of Retirement, (twenty active duty and ten Fleet Reserve).

PO1 David Crawfoot great topic, I have three more years to go to reach 30. I did 25 years active. I had no clue of this information. I am standing-by for some great responses. Great read!

2006 got a package that had all that. Release from Fleet Reserve signed by Some Rear Admiral at BUPERS. Decade now I've been totally free.

Not sure completely about the when you would get something but all correspondence after transfer to Fleet Reserve is done to the address listed in DFAS. It is states in the MILPERS that as Fleet Reserve and Retired you are required to keep this address updated.
