Some people feel they are born out of time. Is there an age you would have rather lived in?

SSG (Join to see) - I well remember that there were two things you heard from everyone within days of arriving in Vietnam. 1. "Is that incoming?" (Referring to artillery) and 2. "I wish my mom/sister/wife/girlfriend could see this" (Referring to the primitive conditions in which people lived

CPT Jack Durish - My awakening was Pakistan earthquake relief JTF in 2005. Most of the JTF HQ staff had dysentery by the time we had the camp set up enough to get running water.

PO1 John Crafton - Happy to hear your present is better then the past. And hoping your future will even be brighter! Aim High!

Future. I'm pissed I won't be able to see what happens in a couple hundred years. Colonies on the moon? Alien Invasion? 150 years life expectancy?

CPT Jack Durish - I always felt I should have been born earlier . . . taking risks that made more of an immediate difference . . . as a member of the French Resistance or the German Resistance during WWII . . . or maybe old enough to have known and to have fought the Russian Occupation of Czechoslovakia at the side of my father and mother . . . or maybe old enough to bring back more sufficiently detailed information about the Nazi Mass Extermination Camps to motivate a rescue mission earlier in the war to save more of the twelve million jews and others who died under such harrowing conditions. I would have loved to have known Wild Bill Donovan during the very earliest years of the OSS, Stanislaw Ulam / Edward Teller / Robert Oppenheimer during the Manhattan Project, and Admiral Hyman Rickover during the earliest days of the development of the nuclear submarine force. I would have loved to have been born in time to lead WWII bomber attacks on Nazi war resources, captained American diesel electric submarines, led covet ops to capture Nazi / Russian / Japanese cryptographic assets, or led covert teams in mass sabotage of Nazi / Russian / Japanese war assets. I would have loved to be among the first officers to rescue concentration camp survivors. In the end, perhaps I am out of place and time . . . should have led covert ops during hot rather than cold wars. Perhaps I should have been the one to put a bullet in the head of Adolph Hitler and other members of the Nazi / Russian / Japanese leadership who caused so much pain and suffering around the world. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

Although I love the time in which I was born, I will admit a bit of disappointment that I was born just a little too late to fight the Fascists in WWII and too early to fight them in the coming war. That left me with Vietnam, a disappointing affair by comparison.

CPT Jack Durish - One thing to be said about the present and future . . . free access to so much information about the past and the present . . . so that while I am more a woman who would prefer to be engaged in active operations . . . living far into the future may yield a perspective and experience unparalleled by actually living history. Then again perhaps time travel is developed so I can go back to kill Adolph Hitler and terminate the horrors of Nazi Germany before anyone suffers and dies under his rule. This from a young woman whose mother survived Terezin to be killed by the Soviets. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

As much as I love to read alternate history where Adolph is killed before WWII or even after it starts, I have very little faith in our ability to go back and change what happened. If we ever get Time Travel, we would already have done that. On the other hand, Maybe we would be able to go into the future, just a thought! However, IF we do develop the technology to go back and murder Hitler, or his parents, SING ME UP.
