Star trek vs. star wars to which universe do you belong
Star Trek & Star Wars have dominated science fiction popular culture for decades. Each is distinct with little overlap and each possesses its own unique characters, locations, technologies and philosophies. Towards which universe to you tend to gravitate and why?

I love both, but Star Trek would win out between the two. I started watching Star Trek with my parents when I was 4 or 5, and I believe it definitely influenced my love of space and desire to join the Navy. I can't drive spaceships, so navy ships is the next best thing.

Never did get INTO Star Wars (liked the movies but that was it), but I've been to three Sifi conventions featuring Star Trek and own all the novels for the original Star Trek fandom including the photo-novels. I also hold a commission in Star Fleet as a Lt. Commander. Got the ID card to prove it.

I grew up with both Star Trek and Star Wars.I am not thrilled with the direction that Star Trek has taken.I am not sure what is to become of Star Wars since now Disney has purchased the franchise. Its a wait and see.

I'm loving my Star Wars universe first and foremost MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca, but these new Star Trek movies are doing the Star Trek universe justice. The old 60's Treks that featured tribbles, the Gorn, and hot green women were way ahead of their time. Poor Gene Roddenberry had to use salt and pepper shakers as medical instrument props because their budget was non-existent. Rosa Parks refused to change seats, but Star Trek has the first interracial kiss on PRIMETIME! George Takei and Uhura were members of the command team when Hollyweird still preferred to make white actors look Asian (miserably).
Star Wars had Darth Vader and Stormtroopers...Tie Fighters and X-Wings...At 9 years of age, seeing Star Wars on the big screen was life changing. May the Force be with you! And if JJ ruins episode 7, there will be rioting in the streets. Seeing Jar Jar still gives me ulcers.

Definitely Star Wars. I think it was the universal politics that attracted me. Besides, I have yet to know anyone from either universe as wise as Master Yoda.

When 900 years you reach, sound as wise, you will not.

Star Wars all the way. I have even had my kids watch the original trilogy and when they asked if there were any more... I tried to lie. But ultimately, I let them watch episodes I, II, and III. Episode VII is highly anticipated by my kids.

Star Trek all the way. Look at the technological advancements since the program was aired, cell phones, DVDs, mini CDs, etc. Even the bridge design was used into the design of the submarines control stations where all functions were at an arm's reach in a curved panel.

CMSgt Robert Gates please don't rain on my parade. My Death Star is under construction and will be available for orbits over the Middle East eventually.

Trekkie for Life, it was the ground breaking first and THE game in town prior to 1977 - It was in reruns on channel 56 out of Boston, and I have been watching it since I was 8. I and my kids do live in both universes but the earth-based human story of Trek is what makes it "real" for me.

I live in both but am devoted to Star Trek having grown up with it. Star Trek had more than just political messages, it had morality, values, diversity (before it became a buzz word).
