How does stress impact you? I know there is different types of stress such as losing sleep stress and others make you run fast on your PT test. What does stress do to you: stop you or drive you?

Yes. Depends on the level, how long it last and my control of the situation.

Usually it drives me, LTC (Join to see). Like when I have to get a job done and I'm up against a deadline. That's motivating stress.

Then, though, there's depressing stress that makes me want to go to sleep. Or, if I'm waking up to a stressful (usually weekend) day, just the thought of the stress that's coming can make me want to roll right over and just go back to sleep.

Normally when the stress is work related, it motivates me.

CW5 Scott Montgomery, I don't know anymore. I am still trying to figure that out. I have been living on full throttle since April 2003 that I am up and down. I do suffer with depression and PTS 30% service connected though. I know what it is supposed to do but kind of thinking it can be ignored.

I've always thought that if I wasn't feeling any stress at all, then I've become too complacent. If under too much stress for too long, then I need to rebalance what I am trying to accomplish (easier said then done).

In short, stress is neither a driver not a stopper for me, it's just a reflection of hard I am pushing myself. No stress means I am not pushing myself nearly enough.

Stress always drove me and I was at my best under stress, was able to think clearer, make faster and wiser decisions.... now the only stress I have is when the daughter cooks and having the smoke detector go off and knowing we are having burned mystery meat for dinner..... who wants to meet me at Hu Hot????

In my own case, stress drives me, but I learned long ago to not let it control me (and that wasn't an easy lesson to learn). My own personal belief is that a certain (manageable) amount of stress is a good thing. Keeps you 'on your toes' so to speak.
I realize others may feel differently, and I have seen some become totally ineffective due to stress.
Like many things in life, it effects different people in different ways, and individuals react differently to it.

It does both but it depends on the situation. Most of the time it energizes me into action.

It SHOULD do BOTH throughout each day.
As a reminder when necessary,(under duress) to tell your body when it’s time to slow down or pause...Yet on the other hand during times of need, and accomplishing tasks, it motivates a body to succeed & achieve a goal.
You just have to manage each responsibly.
Managing stress can take many years of practice.
