India and Pakistan have been at war since 1947. Pakistan has resorted shipping global and regional terrorists across the border to disrupt Indian affairs and chip away at Indian territory. India has conducted surgical strikes against Pakistan to deter Pakistan from further misadventures into India, but Pakistan just doesn't get the warning. How should India act under such circumstances?

Difficult situation. I know that it was hoped when India and Pakistan separated that things would improve. Clearly, they have not. I sgtill hold out hope that someday soon they can come to some sort of peaceful agreement.

India and Pakistan were divided into two over religious lines; religious segregation more aptly. However, India is secular and welcomes all alike to its shores, including Muslim people. Pakistan, on the other hand wants a larger piece of the pie that it never deserved. Should India give Pakistan its states of Punjab, J&K and West Bengal Lt Col Charlie Brown Ma'am? This is what Pakistan wants from India now, but will that stop Pakistan?

The surgical strikes did indeed take place and were ordered by the Army Chief, since majority of terrorists emerged into India from Azad Kashmir and the order was to find, fix and finish terror training and staging bases in Azad Kashmir. Indian SOF did their job and exfiltrated without engaging Pakistan Army or the ISI. Pakistan complained to India via its High Commissioner in Delhi. Then, Pakistan denied the surgical strikes on the international stage. Sitting in India observing the events and monitoring the live telecasts, I can confirm those surgical strikes. In a similar event, Pakistan counterattacked and kidnapped foreign journalists operating in India - Daniel Pearl incident for instance. After those surgical strikes into Azad Kashmir by India, terror modules had to regroup and so, infiltration into Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan ceased for a while. Now, the terror modules are attacking into India with a fresh plan and approach. Indian Army and paramilitary forces in Kashmir have unearthed LeT and JeM leaders operating teams in the Valley are homegrown radicalized Indians whose training is done in Azad Kashmir and whose duty is to influence movement against government and to disrupt normal life in the Valley. Adam Smith your claim of difficulty to confirm the strikes is common, since after the initial publicity of videos, India put a lid on the entire action. If Pakistan repeats the misadventures of terror attacks against India, India can and will relive surgical strikes into Pakistan.

CPT Gurinder (Gene) Rana - Recently the Indian PM Narendra Modi said that he asked the Pak authorities to come and collect their soldiers' bodies. If the strikes took place inside Pak territory should the bodies also not be there and not in India?

Adam Smith; Narendra Modi was talking about the bodies of terrorists killed in encounters in Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan. The surgical strikes took place almost a year ago now, so no reason for Modi to return bodies a year later.

Tough question since both nations are nuclear powers. By all accounts, Pakistan is not exactly a stable entity with secular and religious factions at odds within the government and military. Too much of a 'wink and a nod' philosophy towards terrorism and the Taliban certainly doesn't help, either. Pakistan wants territory from India, and India has no interests or reasons to give it away. Long, shared borders are difficult to secure, and determined people often find ways to travel through what is often perceived to be impenetrable terrain. Maybe some version of Korean DMZ would be helpful. Not a pleasant solution, but maybe the only one.

SFC Stephen Atchley a DMZ like zones would place India in a triangle with China and Chinese allies on all sides. China is now in Sri Lanka, Pakistan and perhaps soon in the Maldives too.

China is on the North - Northeastern border with India. Chinese ally, Pakistan is to the West - Northwestern borders with India. Sri Lanka, with Chinese presence, to the South. Maldives will put China to the Southwest. Only the East is the escape hatch.

China's economic expansion plans threatens India, Bangladesh and Bhutan. The New Silk Route intends to pass through India at Doklam and Karakoram Pass. Doklam is the trijunction between India, China and Bhutan.
