How do you respond when someone says "Thank you for your service"?

I've never asked this question, and I've never seen anyone else ask it, but I'm curious. What do you say when someone thanks you for your service?
My Military ID is right next to my driver's license and debit card in my wallet, so it's visible if I have to show my driver's license for something or if I'm taking my debit card out to use. Very often, someone who sees it will ask what branch I was in. Then they will thank me for my service. My usual answer is "Thank you for your support." But I'm curious about how others respond to that.

"Thank you for your support" is a good answer. Hadn't thought of that response.
"My pleasure" or "it was an honor to serve", sometimes surprises people especially if they are being solicitous and feel obligated to comment.
Have just now read comments. Many I would not feel uncomfortable saying in response.

I always look them in their eyes and tell them thank you very much for your kindness! And that was my honor and privilege to have served! God bless America

I always reply, "Thank YOU! That's much appreciated".

I puzzled over how I should respond to this for a long time. In my "era" the options were: go to collage - get drafted - enlist - or head to the Great White North. Since Canada was much too cold for me, I had no desire to continue going to school, and I did not want to be drafted - I enlisted. I felt that my service was not an option so I was conflicted about my response. I have since settled on, "Thank you, it was an honor to serve."

I enlisted to get off the dairy farm from a small, protected community in Minnesota. It was a very enlightening experience that I never regret, and it taught me a lot about life and put me on a career path that did more for me than any college could have given me. 1962 to 1965 was not a good time to be in the service but I would not trade it for anything.

I say- You are welcome. It has been the greatest honor of my life and thanks for acknowledging it.
