A good divide. Boot camp should always remain gender separated!

This is interesting and something I hadn't even considered. Coming from Army Infantry I just assumed when women entered combat arms they would enter our boot camps too. In the Army your training duty station has to do with your job rather than geographic location (or in the case of Parris Island, gender). I have wondered though what integrated training looks like (we only had one latrine in basic, do integrated units have male/female latrines?). Definitely a new logistical challenge to add to the others. Also, a final thought, I think it would be beneficial to integrate the boot camps IF it is decided that women will ultimately be allowed in combat arms as it would more accurately represent the fleet.

I don't wish to banter back and forth, there were no women where we were just saying hand to hand with bayonets, enough said I don't wish to talk about it anymore.

To answer your question, again, men and women are a distraction when together. Marine Corps Boot is NOTHING like the Army. We are still very much a warriror culture. We will remain segregated. As far as fully integrating combat arms? Are there women that fit the combat arms mold mold? Yes, very few. The rest are just too weak to compete. It is not their fault. It is the physiological differences between men and women. For the few that make it (congrats to those female rangers!) I welcome them! Though, preliminary studies are showing that the physical rigors of combat arms are harder on the female body and they likely will not make it through their career. Is that fair to them?

SGT James Elphick - whether you agree or not integration has already happened; However, when W.M.'s can pass the rigors of training without the adjustments we shall see until then, Why change it if it doesn't need changing. Any other Military can Change Leave us with our own Direction. Until you have been in a Marines Shoe then Talk!!!

SGT James Elphick - The UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS IS still very much a WARRIOR culture PERIOD , just a CWO2 stated in HIS response !! I have personally observed Revised/modified(REDUCED) Training standard's by Other Branches when their basic training was intergrated to the Joint Male/female Basic Concept, which would NOT work for OUR MARINE CORPS!!!. The current system WORKS for OUR United States MARINE CORPS, why try and FIX WHAT IS NOT BROKEN !!! WE are UNIQUELY THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, the tip of the spear, THE MOST Diverse, effective combat force the WORLD has ever know and WILL know. As 1stSgt Gallegos said "why change if it does NOT need changing" !!! I agree that "UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN IN A MARINE'S SHOE'S THEN TALK"
