The "environmentally friendly, climate change" Bernie Sanders took an SUV and a private jet to go visit the President. Hypocrisy or not?

To answer that question, I will present another question. Why does anybody drive cars to work? Bicycles are far healthier, cleaner, and less expensive. It's because you're competing with other people who are driving cars, not riding bikes. Similarly, Sanders is (unsuccessfully) competing with private get flying, SUV driving, liberal politicians.

I question the point of the question. What other method of transit should he have taken, a VW bug to the airport and a bi-plane? Or, should he have taken a horse the whole way? How environmentally PC is it necessary to be to keep from being a hypocrite when it comes to carbon footprint issues?

Really? Do you expect him to pull up in his Prius?!

Of course it is hypocrisy. You can't lecture people on something and then do the very thing you are lecturing people about.

For example, I had a close relative lecturing me about the evils of the dairy industry and how I'm a monster for supporting this industry with my money. Then later on she's posting on Facebook how much she loves dairy products. But when I call her out on the blatant hypocrisy, I'm still the bad guy.

Ridiculously not.

My first though is that commercial travel doesn't work to get him to DC for his meeting. You don't make the POTUS change his schedule...

Don't listen to what they say, watch what they do. If they believed the planet was in as much immediate peril as they say they would be taking far more drastic action to reduce their carbon footprint.
