I thought World War 3 was declared on September 11. It's just that nobody expected it to be a "Jihad". With both sides being so totally removed from reality it will most likely be a long one. The age old argument of "My religion is the right one" NO "MY religion is the right one". This is the same thing that resulted in the Crusades, the Spanish inquisition, The Holocaust, and a plethora of atrocities throughout human history. My question is if the founding fathers didn't go far enough on the freedom of religion aspect of the Bill of Rights in not making it a criminal offense to attempt enforcement of a given religion.

The trigger started in the eighties when terrorists started using suicide bombers, and blowing up planes with service men on them.

I am certain the "War to end all wars," will be in the Middle East. Syria and Iran has shown us that even though most of the world knows the regimes in these countries will go to great lengths to use chemical and nuclear weapons, there are other countries that are supporting them, such as China, Russia, etc.

I think China's aggression in the Pacific. They're arguing with 6 or 7 different nations over islands that are 800 miles from China's coast. They're claiming territorial waters that they have no right to. They've even said Japan has no right to Okinawa and the Senkaku Islands. If they press those assumed rights, I expect that the U.S. will be pulled into the fight by the Philippines, and Japan.

The U.S. will not be pulled into the fight. This is why:
The Chinese will continue to develop and expand their blue water navy. Already, the West has laughed and ignored the threat. The threat will be real when a Chinese carrier battle group sits off Hawaii while the main force will annex Taiwan by force (they've been buying and building landing craft for well over a decade; there's only one use for landing craft). The U.S. will attempt to use regional forces based in Japan and South Korea, but it won't be enough to dislodge an entrenched Chinese force. The carrier battle group off Hawaii will threaten any ships that leave Pearl harbor with their D22 "Carrier killer" missiles. Japan has a robust naval Self Defense Force, but it won't be enough to stand up to the Chinese juggernaut. With Taiwan annexed, and Japan threatened, and the Chinese artificial islands in the South China Sea, the Chinese will effectively control their half of the Pacific Ocean; something the Japanese did not have the resources to accomplish in 1941. With that comes control of the Strait of Malacca, through which 80% of the world's commerce sails through.

Eastern Europe. We will see Russia taking the Ukraine. I do not think the US or the EU will do much about that. But, when Russia tries to carve out a part of Poland, that will be different. The EU will step up.
