CSM Darieus Z.- that is a very good suggestion. I googled it and It turns out there are about 30 of them for various Brigade and above size units on Fort Hood. Perhaps one of them will be willing to lend a hand. Thank you.

How about contacting Fort Hood Family and MWR office? Ask them what they can do.

CPT John Sheridan, thanks for that number. I will give that a try. I went to that office over a year ago. They had removed their bulletin board so there was no longer a place to post or hang the flyer I had prepared. I tried to talk to the lady at the counter but she was swamped, taking care of customers and didn't have time to talk to me at length about other options. She didn't seem to have any solutions. I also contacted two different people via telephone at the Fort Hood newspaper. They said they could only run ads from events selected by the public affairs officer. I left several messages on his answering machine but he never returned my calls.

SGM Joel Cook What assistance are you looking for? Distribution of "seats" in your program? Just spreading the word the program exist?
Who is your target audience?
Wounded vets? Single Soldiers? Geographic bachelors residing in billeting, having no personal transportation, who like karaoke, preferable in the rain wearing MOPP 4?

SGM Joel Cook Of note, I was being silly, not condescending, negitive or disrespectful in that last line above..
Thank you for making the effort to give back...
I take it your not local to Hood? Making direct and frequent contact to get a solution possible?

SGM Erik Marquez - I have owned a home or lived in Killeen, off and on for 30 years as the Army saw fit to move me. After I retired I got into gold panning near Llano, we do outings about every six months spring and fall. We usually get at least one soldier every outing but this time none. We did get seven veterans. We got rained out three times this spring so we just did an outing this past weekend. Way to hot. I am looking for a way to get the word out to vets, soldiers, young, old, single, married, kids are welcome but handicap, we are not set up for, because of ruff terrain. I myself am 50% disabled but I get around fine. Wheelchair or leg amputees would be a safety challenge but we do have one gentleman in a wheelchair that hardly ever misses our Saturday night Barbacue supper. I have tried MWR and struck out. I also tried the Fort Hood Sentinal but got a run around to call a guy that never returned a single call after I left three messages on his machine. I typed up a one page flyer with cost, dates, times, directions, a few basic rules and posted it at the PX bulletin board but MWR has removed their bulletin board so no luck there. A posting to all addresses on Fort Hood Email would be perfect but it may be against the rules. Our next outing will be in the Sep or Oct time frame. I am trying to get a good lead on points of contact to put the word out effectively. We usually set the firm dates 30 days in advance. Thanks.
