Dog of course. Cats are lazy and you can do almost anything with a dog. They are always happy and ready to have fun. (provided, you have a breed of dog with those attributes)

Love all critters but over the years I have developed a sensitivity to Cat Dandur. I like breathing so my Preference is Dogs these day.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, you are not actually allergic to the dander. You are allergic to a protein found in their saliva. They clean themselves and the protein gets on the fur and sheds. If you were allergic to dogs, it would be the dander itself. It is possible to be allergic to one cat and not another...

My dog is a member of my family, but my cat kills rodent within 50 yards of my house. That's a tough call.

CPT Gerber, which one defends you from politicians? That would be my deciding factor. You said the cat kills rodents, so that might be what I would wager in this situation.
