When I was active duty I went Marine Corps Regs and wanted to know from the perspective of not only the Marines, but other Corpsmen as well.

When I was a young Marine (first year or two), I had issues. But after multiple deployments and seeing the "Docs" living in the dirt like us and running up and down the line during a break in the force march, taking care of "their" Marines while the troops were sitting on their cans nursing blisters, those docs earned it. We loved our doc and made sure they were taken care of as well as they took care of us. And what made me respect them more was that all those FMF corpsmen VOLUNTEER for duty with Marines. So HELL YEAH!

Semper fi Doc! (reminds me that I need to track down my old Doc.)

Like most if not all Marines I have the utmost respect for Navy Corpsmen who serve along side us in the worst conditions. If there was any 'comforting' aspect about a combat situation, it was the certain knowledge that if a person was hurt, he would not lie unattended on the ground and that a Corpsman would come along soon with help. In recognition of their service Corpsmen should be allowed to wear the MC uniform should they desire as a special acknowledgement of all they mean to the Corps.

Our Corpsman went USMC Regs, much respect to him. He ran our runs, did all of our humps and got our asses home when we were in trouble. He also carried the PRC when our radioman couldn't hump it through. I have no problem with it whatsoever. He NEVER asked to be called or treated like a Marine, but like a Sailor who was there to be a brother. Most respected Navy Man I ever knew.

This is for the Marines/Corpsmen. How do you feel about Corpsman who went Marine Corps Regs?

As a Vietnam Veteran and Marine, I always considered Corpsmen as Marines, not Navy!

i went regs 85-87, and never looked back, you show the dedication to be all as a sailor you have a certain level of qualification, but as an fms you have gone above and beyond this is what separates a navy corpsman from doc

Many of us served in Navy blues and Marine Corps greens throughout a career.

I don't see a problem with it. They wore the uniform appropriate for their assignment.

In fact, I'd love to see the french-fries and crows moved back down to the sleeve where they belong.

I think it should be an option once Corpsman have proven themselves as Devil Docs. I've seen a few fat "Corpsmen" pouring out of their Charlie's or Alpha's, who do not keep up to standards and lack the motivation & Professionalism. Truthfully they look like idiots and cause Marine's to look down on them and other Corpsmen.

Part of the requirements of going Marine Corps Regs is maintaining the same standards. If they are fat bodies, they shouldn't be allowed to do Marine Regs.

I went "Marine Corps Regs". I ran the USMC PFT and scored my 300 and wore certain USMC uniforms. I got inspected in both my USMC uniforms and my Navy uniforms. It was a good experience but some were not happy with me while other were proud of me.

I also went marine corps reg scored a 300 and shot expert with m16 and 45. I learned to shoot every infantry weapon they had from laws, 60, 50, saw, sniper rifles, I have served with tanks, 3/2, 2mar div. I was respected by my platoon and was an asset versus a burden. I was recognized as the marine of the day by a general twice by mistake. Lol

As a fellow Corpsman - all respect whichever uniform and grooming standards that chose to adopt. The most squared away HM that I ever saw was the LPO of the MedDet at 8th and I - high standards indeed. I knew other great Corpsmen who decided to stay Navy regs - but ran all the PFTs, humps, etc. - did the job and cared for their Marines. All good!
