What do these US military bases have in common?

Fort Bragg
Fort Rucker
Fort Hood
Fort Lee
Fort Benning
Fort Gordon
Fort A.P. Hill
Fort Polk
Fort Pickett
Camp Beauregard (Operated by the Louisiana National Guard)

They are all named for Confederate generals. There’s been talk for years about whether this is appropriate, and now in wake of Charleston and the South Carolina Confederate flag, it’s coming up again.

Do you think these posts should be renamed to honor people who fought in the U.S. Army exclusively? Vote, and share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Actually, I doubt it will ever happen because it would be so expensive to the Department of Defense. The names are very well known and everywhere.

CAPT (Join to see) NOOOOOO!!!! While I am not a fan of the flag, nor the concept it is "heritage not hate" I do agree with remaining bases. Those leaders are part of our military history, as are those bases. Yes, I know the flag was too, but its meaning has morphed through the years in my view; or, at least its perception.

The following comment is a joke, so please treat it as such: I recommend renaming Ft Bragg as Ft McRaven, and the Army can't change it back until they win the Army-Navy game.
