There are lots of questions of transitioning from Reserve to Active, but not as many vice versa. Especially on the officer side.
What steps would I have to take if I wanted to transfer from Active 19A to Reserve 38A? Do I still apply for the SOF Board like I was applying to stay Active, or do I have to have an "in" with a Reserve unit?

Hey Jake, I didn't end up taking this route. I ended up going into an MI Reserves unit instead. However, the steps are the same to get into an MI reserve unit as they would be to get into a Civil Affairs reserve unit. Essentially, all you have to do is have your Reserves recruiter place you into whichever unit you want. It's as easy as that. It is much different than the active duty processes. This is different from the active duty because you don't have to go to a CA selection course.
