It appears that we will be sending 400 more US "trainers" to Iraq to support (by supposed training) their fight against ISIS.

What does RP think? Good idea or do you think it will lead to direct US involvement?

More troops are needed if we want to put and end to ISIS.

Unless we commit with the full force of the US Military like we did before we are never going to make progress. 5 Airstrikes a week isn't a winning strategy, although I'm no military tactician so what do I know...

Looks like window dressing to me. The problem isn't with the training. A long term change of attitude is needed. Basically, they need babysitting at least until everyone from 9 years up is dead.

I predict that this administration will only do the minimal amount to deflect political fallout until the end of his term.

I guess my main concern is once we kick ISIS's asses like we did to whatever the terrorists were calling themselves in 2003 and give power back to the Iraqis, the same thing will happen.

You know, the Iraqi Police won't take their jobs seriously, will be lazy, not know what to do with their new-found freedom, and the terrorists will retake Iraq.

At what point do we wash our hands of Iraq?

I don't think any amount of trained Iraqis will result in the end of Isis, but I would have no hesitation volunteering to go put a stop to them with our troops.
