When making a resume on USAjobs do you also only write down the last ten years of duty places if you been in the military for longer than 10?

As many as you want. The guidance used to be put in as many things as you could and have huge descriptions for each job so every key word was in there. This is no longer the case. Now they are saying a resume should be no longer than 5 pages, it should be tailored to the specific job and the quality of your bullets is much more important.

Thank you Sir. Everyone is different on how they want it. Wasn’t sure if they wanted 22 years worth of stuff.

Not true in the civilian world. The studies show that HR might give your resume' 60 seconds before going on to the next one if nothing grabs them, so keep it to a couple of pages with a cover letter. The cover letter should tell them what you can do and what you are looking for from them. Then my Resume' is just long enough to list job skills and certifications, a job history to fill all the holes. I don't think any of them care about much more than that stuff.
I've used that approach for the last decade or so for both contract work and non-contract jobs. I've managed to walk out the door on one job and into the next.

Need to build a civilian resume and upload it. However keep it generic for the main one. When you see a job on USAJOBS, tweek your resume to the specific job using key words from the job announcement KSA. It is computer generated sacn at first before it goes to anyone. Whenyou get tothe questions at the end, you are the expert on everything...if not you will be kicked out as not qualified..unfortuante to play that game but that is how it goes.

Whatever you do, don't lie as the poster says below. Everything in that post is exact opposite they tell you in TAP.

If you need help with a resume go to the career center where you are stationed. They have people who can and will help you.

This is basically what they go over when you do TAP classes: https://www.militaryonesource.mil/education-employment/for-service-members/how-to-write-a-resume/

Also go to Career One Stop. https://www.careeronestop.org/LocalHelp/AmericanJobCenters/american-job-centers.aspx

These American Job Centers will help even after getting out too.

I put a resume on Resume Nerd and it tells you what you need to do to improve it. Cost a little...but then I'm going to make an appointment at the career center to have someone there go over it. I can't remember what else will help. You can ask others who recently retired to see their resume or others going through it. But in the DOL classes and if you do employment track they cover resumes in TAP.
