I find myself so anxious this time of the month. Sitting here waiting for cut off scores to be posted. I have missed the cut off for about 7 months in a row now, and I have about 515. Anyone else find themselves waiting for Cut Off scores to be posted, and how many points do you have?

At least you get a chance every month to get promoted, when you get to the senior level, you will get anxious once a year, and if you don't get selected, it's a long wait for the next one

Good luck with the promotion

Ill be there one day SFC Dominguez, and when that day comes I'm sure I will dread it. For the time being I'm worried about the rank at hand, and what I can do to earn more points. Thank you!

Spc can you break down your points by categories i.e. weapon, pt, and so on. I can give you some feedback as a fellow Signal soldier how to improve your chances to get promoted.

Eligible trends report. Check it monthly and it will tell you where you sit compared to your peers. You want to get yourself into the top 50 of your MOS. If you look through the report and find 100 peers with more points than you it should be a good indicator you won't get promoted. Even if they picked up 50 of them you have to figure new Soldiers come on the list every month and they will probably have the same points as you or more.

Every time I talk a Soldier through the ETR they are amazed that this tool is available and makes getting promoted so easy. Google the report and let me know if you have any questions.

Roger 1SG I have become very familiar with the trend report, and as of last month I am among the top 13 of my MOS. Thank you for the information!

When the Promotion Point System changed in April 2011, I finally saw a chance to get promoted.  I spent the rest of that year learning the PPW, different ways to gain points and populate my ERB, and missing points by less than 20 every month until I made cut-off.  That was how I made the most out of my wait time.  At one point, I was mentoring peers and my HR NCO on how computer-based training hours were updated.

Im in that same boat. I have maxed out my correspondence courses. I cannot go to WLC because I am currently deployed, and I am currently enrolled in college. I am trying to do everything in my power to make more points! Hopefully all of my hard work pays off soon.

Do you know a foreign language well enough to pass a DLPT?  Have you sent your JST to your college?  Could you find a course that rewards a COA?

Yes I have received 20 points for my JST SGT. I have been taking courses when available I.E Field San. I know Spanish very well, but have never taken the test.

You may want to consider contacting your local education center about taking the DLPT.  I believe you have to be able to translate writing and listening.  Also, check to see if any military courses you've completed are worth anything by sending the certificates to your college.  Lastly, COOL.army.mil is a great source for technical courses that relate to your MOS.

If you're doing EVERYTHING you can do to earn every point, shouldn't have to be anxious...you should be well over cut off.

It's those Soldiers that aren't maxing each and every possible category that have to be anxious.

MSG Quick I have done almost everything in my power. My MOS cut off scores have just been pretty high every month. I am currently taking college courses to better myself as well as earn more points. I know that as a private if I had listened to my leaders, and take college courses I would be a lot better off now.

So did I, SPC Rapach...that's why I have little compassion for those with only 500ish promotion points.

SPC Murphy,

Could you define "high"?

Also, with you saying you've done "almost everything", this is why you get anxious.

Congrats on getting enrolled in college...you've gained some very good experience with the statement "if I had listened to my leaders".  Keep doing everything YOU can do and it'll come.
