Has anyone seen the story out of Virginia about 2LT Caron Nazario. I'm looking for some feedback on his actions and the police reactions. Is this acceptable conduct for an officer in the US Military Has anyone else had this kind of interaction?

I am not seeing a link here, so I'll have to look at it later. From the replies here. Sounds like the police must have said something about his race? Otherwise why are people bringing that info it?

Viewing through the lens of law enforcement, traffic stops can go sideways in a fraction of a second. Keeping that in mind, it's not uncommon for drivers being pulled over to "slow roll" or drive under the guise of "finding a space to pull over" to essentially play for time and try to hide drug/paraphernalia and/or weapons so that said items would be located in the vehicle vs. on their person. It also serves as a means to quickly plan to flee on foot or even ambush law enforcement.

I don't know off the top of my head if the 2LT slowed and acknowledged the police by turning his hazard lights on or anything like that, nor do I recall how long he drove until pulling over.

For me personally, if I'm stopped, in the process of pulling over, if it's nighttime or evening I will turn on the interior dome and map lights to illuminate the inside of the vehicle and I'll roll driver and passenger windows down.

In this instance, from the lens of the 2LT, with all the outrage of "cops vs. minorities" that all the cool kids seemed to be doing at the time, I believe that the 2LT recognized an opportunity to both get in the media and lay the foundation for a sizeable monetary settlement. From the video, he was incredibly argumentative and non-compliant. The excuse that he feared for his life from a traffic stop is more worn out than a middle-aged stripper outside Ft. Bragg and equally undesirable. The officers were close enough that when they told him to unbuckle his seatbelt and set out, he communicated his concern (which is understandable) and then the cops told him to do it slowly and not make any sudden movements. This is where 2LT began the E-1 Private babbling of bullshit that sent everyone's heartrate and blood pressure through the roof.

Usually when folks are super resistant to simple commands, there's a reason for it; like they have guns/drugs that they don't want to be discovered and complying will sure reveal said items. I mean if a cop is pointing a Taser at me an states something that includes "...ride the lightning.." I can reasonably conclude that he's speaking about me being tased if I don't comply. Hell, even junior enlisted can draw that conclusion.

Perhaps 2LT earned his Bachelors degree in Victimology at the University of Woke and Oppressed (this is satire so calm down) where one or more of his courses focused on how to bait law enforcement to exercise some level of Use of Force that you can later spin and manipulate to fit your self-serving narrative, it's like Narcissist Gaslighting of Law Enforcement 101.

In the end, I think the officer acted like a complete ass-clown and blew this simple traffic stop entirely out of proportion and he's the victim of his own actions. If he can't navigate a simple traffic stop, how in God's name is he going to lead soldiers and function in a real-life combat scenario?

THE COP WAS A RACIST POS BIGOT PLAIN AND SIMPLE AND HE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE. THE POLICE FORCES OR SHOULD I SAY BLUE ISIS HAS TOO MANY BAD COPS ON THE PAYROLL AND THEY CONTINUE TO PAY THEIR CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS BILLS WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS. THAT COP WAS OUT OF LINE AND HIS YAL'QAEDA SENSES WERE ON OVERDRIVE. LUCKILY THE LT WASN'T KILLED IN THE FAMOUS "I FEARED FOR MY LIFE" EXCUSE THAT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH MURDER ALONG WITH QUALIFIED IMMUNITY. THERE IS A LOT OF PRIVILEGED FOLKS THAT HAVE NO CLUE HOW THIS FEELS BECAUSE THEIR PIGMENTATION OR LACK THEREOF PRECLUDES THEM FROM SUCH RACIAL BIAS. FOR SOME REASON PIG DEPOTS LOVE KEEPING THE BAD COPS AND FIRING THE RARE GOOD ONES. THE AG IS CURRENTLY SUING THIS RACIST COUNTY FOR THE OBVIOUS CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS WHICH WERE CLEARLY MOTIVATED BY THIS COPS BIGOTRY. ONLY FOLKS PRAISING THAT RACIST ARE HIS FELLOW RACISTS IN UNIFORM OR NOT. THE LT WAS A PROFESSIONAL HERE AND SOME OF YALL WILL NEVER EVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO YOU.

Anytime a Service Member publishes a video without going through the Chain Command opens himself to Miss-Conduct Charges. In this case the Lt was just showing his ass when he was in wrong. the Police Officers were confused with his Actions as an Officer and the LT. tried to escalate the problem provoking the Police Officer over a speeding violation. I had a similar problem in 1986 in Rogers Texas where I was at a Stop Light and was pulled over after the light turned green and was pulled over 75ft of the intersection and was given a ticket in the amount of $250.00 and was told I could fight it, but the Judge was his Uncle. The driver controls the situation. This video just be a training video of not what to do.

I would suggest several things at this point. 1. review all the recorded videos and sound. 2. Put your selves in the officer's shoes. 3. And Review ALL other information surrounding this case, Including the LT's action and body language. Before making any judgement. FYI this was not the first incident with the LT.

Cop was a total scumbag. Had pulled him over a month earlier for speeding. So the Lt pulls into a well-lit area--because he's scared--and the scumbag comes up to him, gun out, telling him he's gonna get shot and gonna ride the white lightning. Then peppersprays him for no reason.

Sergeant comes up and gives some bullshit about "garbage the media's spewing" etc., and whining that people pull into well-lit areal "a lot" and they're "almost always minorities."

Well guess what Skippy, there's a reason for that and, frankly, I've seen in writing where police officers ask that you put on your hazard lights and slow down to show compliance.

The fact that the spray-happy punk was fired is plenty of evidence that he was in the wrong.

I'm white, an Air Force veteran, and a former deputy sheriff. Left the SO because of seeing crap like this and being told "we need to stick together."
