I'm currently fixing up my uniform to go to the board, and I finally need the answer to something that I've been putting off for a minute due to not finding answers;

How does one wear a permanently awarded unit award (Unit award earned while in the unit during the awarded period) with temporary unit awards (Unit awards worn for the unit that I was not there during the awarded period)?

I can't find it in DA Pam or AR 600-8-22, though it was mostly a quick skim (20 minutes or so) and a CTRL+F. Figured I'd ask here if anybody knew off-hand or could point in me the right direction/chapter. Thanks in advance!

Worn the same, if more than one of same need an oak leaf cluster.

@SGT Ryan Ballou: The best award that I received when I was in the Army was a birthday letter from the Commander of my post.

Now back in the day for a DA photo you’d wear only the unit awards you earned while a member of the units you were present and assigned during that time period. Especially in the reserves sometimes your unit earned but didn’t receive until a couple of years later a unit award that your authorized but not aware it was for the period you were still assigned to the unit and since transferred…. If you stay in contact with folks still in the unit they can provide a copy of the order.
Now like SSG Noll indicated worn the same with oak leaf clusters etc. so for an example say your unit earned three PUCs and you earned one while assigned to a previous unit. To be completely correct you’d wear a Presidential Unit citation with four oak leaf clusters (or stars if you’re in a Naval unit citation. It can get a little more complicated with different services but while in the Army all unit citations go by order of precidence above the right pocket of your dress uniform.
Bottom line keep a set of personally awarded and a set for unit of assignment with your personally awarded updated with each unit you go to. Hope this helps!

Brother John, same question I was asked at my DA photo, are those yours. You may keep only ones earned during your time assigned to said unit.
