All, if you are married, do you wear your wedding ring in uniform? If you do, what kind and what are your thoughts on why you chose that type.

When I was in, I kept it in my pocket. Being an Aviation Electrician, Avionics Tech, crawling around on a Helo, and working with live Electricity was not going to work to my benefit by wearing a metal ring on my finger. Could have been a very shocking experience

24K plain yellow gold band; now why do I wear it, in or out of uniform you ask? Because it's a symbol or commitment for both myself and my wife... and for others that are not aware. The ring isn't what makes me married; rather, it's an outward representation of my commitment to my wife after I took the vow to be her husband. That's why!

Try to wear mine which is a tungsten band most of the time. If I am just instructing a class, or doing paperwork type stuff I will wear it. If I am doing pt, patient care, or anything where it could be hazardous, I take it off.

SSG Robert Burns That rates a double! Do you remember the exploding neck collars on the movie "The Running Man?" (LOL?) They could also be refered to as "wedding bands" (hopefully they are ONLY placed around the neck).

There are 3 rings in marriage. The engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffering.

My first deployment, panama .. my future wifes unit deployed many in support of operations.... she did not deploy that time with them.... So there I am,,, an unmarried man, but with a girlfriend at home, surrounded by hot women and some of those of lesser moral opinions  ... I learned later, daily reports went back on my actions... apparently is was said i was the Hot guy that was nice, flirted a bit, but never touched.
Seems that was the right report, as we have been married ever since, happily I might add. No shock collar or leash required..

I wore a ring every day....... until my good friend and one of my squad leaders degloved his ring finger while doing some dismount drills... he dismounted,, his finger remained attached to the door lock of the HMMWV.. After that day, I only wore my ring when I was in garrison and in the office. If I went to the MP or out to training, the ring went on my watch band.

I strongly advise NOT wearing your ring in the field. As the medic pointed out, I have seen several soldiers injured because their ring was caught on equipment.

I would wear mine (silver) when in my dress uniform, but not in a working uniform. As CMDCM Gene Treants mentioned, smart Sailor safety to not wear a ring onboard ships... Degloving is NOT cool!

I never wear a ring. In another life, I was a correctional officer and having inmates know *anything* about your personal life is a no-go. That was so deeply ingrained it just carried over to the military. If I were to wear one now it would just get all scratched up or I would hurt myself from all the gear we move around. I like to think I don't need a ring to show I'm faithful to my wife, I just show it in my actions every day.

I were a palladium one. I think the tattooed ones can be distasteful, and the super flashy ones are extremely distasteful. Now, if you're someone who works with their hands, like a mechanic or weaponeer, then not having it on is usually mandatory.

I wear mine only off duty. I saw some one de-glove a finger years ago and never wanted that to happen to me. That being said I believe that being married to someone is more than a piece of metal or a mark on your skin. It's a state of mind and soul that will show regardless.
