I plan on rejoining next year and want to be in the special forces and I’m wondering if there is anything going on. Not shying away just want to know if I’m going in at a bad time

SPC (Join to see), aren't you forgetting that official policy is that snake-eaters only hang out in local cafes and try to look uncomfortably inconspicuous in all the unfriendly places around the world where we don't have "combat troops" deployed?

Special Forces will always have a mission. Their main job isn't shooting bad guys, it's training others to fight. As long as we have adversaries there will be a mission for SF.

If you're going into SF because you think their job is to shoot bad guys in the face and you'll miss that chance, then you're joining the wrong organization. In that case the organization you want to join is the 75th Ranger Regiment

Black Ops will always happen. It is possible that existing government in Afghanistan will collapse and become taliban again so you can foresee taliban attacking the US again and we will go back in there and kick ass again.

Weird question but by next year will there be no more fighting in Afghanistan? Also, will Special Forces continue to operate in Afghanistan?

SOF works in over 80 countries currently, stopping one won't change anything in SOF missions, there will still be more need than ARSOF can provide.

I think they (SF) will. Everyone else should come home. If we could have won in Afghanistan, we would have done it by now.

My best guess is that all the "Military" troops will come out with the exception of some liaisons mission at the top, but the a good portion of those troops will be replaced by "independent" contractors. I am just a little suspicious if they are really that independent.

Don't overthink it. If you want to go SF then go SF. There will always be a mission somewhere.

As for Afghanistan who knows what will be happening there in 6 months, 12 months, 2 years. There is no telling

SF always has a mission but don’t forget you still have that 1 to 2 year pipeline to go through depending on the MOS you get. Anything is subject to change within that timeframe. Best of luck in the Q.

Special forces will still be deployed to many places, Afghanistan more than likely at some point.
SpecOps missions and mission tempo take them many places for actions that you won't hear about on the news.

If/when you come back in and if/when you make it into SOF, dont worry, there will be an arena to fight in at some point. But are you wanting to come back in because you're itching for a fight and trigger time?
