What advice do you have for someone heading to 31B OSUT? Are there any changes due to COVID?

My wife is leaving soon for 31B OSUT. Any advice for her before she leaves? Any information on changes due to COVID?

As with any OSUT, shutup and listen. Put up with the Drill Sergeants and absorb information so it may be applied. Army OSUT is taught at stupidly low levels.....

Thank you! She will do good with the class work. She already has a bachelors in CJ and is slotted to go to CIDSAC after she completes OSUT.

PFC (Join to see) - She should do very well then. As WO1 Jeff C. said, "shut-up and listen." I recently visited the MP School at a Ft. Leonard Wood MP reunion. The DS' are loud - some profane (especially the women DS') but it's all to get MP's used to confrontational situations. She only needs to remember that the DS's all want students to excel and despite what may SEEM to be the case, they really do care. My approach to training in my day was to remember, "Nothing they say, or do, can intentionally hurt me, as it's ALL TRAINING."k
Best of luck to her.
Best of luck to her.

It’s the easiest 19 weeks! I shipped to OSUT 2 years ago and honestly it’ll fly by. Tell her to focus on getting out of there but to take care of herself. An injury in OSUT can be bad because 19 weeks is a long time to recycle. Focus on the goal of getting out of basic. You will have the same drills for all 19 weeks and sleep in the sam place all 19 weeks. Just right place right time right uniform. The first 5 ish weeks are about breaking the civilian but as soon as AIT hits everything calms down a lot.

Just listen. Everything is very dumbed down. Not sure about COVID. I went through in 2017. Tell her I said good luck!
