What are America's greatest threats long term and short term?

In your opinion, what is America's biggest threat long term and short term and is our military up the the challenge to stop that threat?

Economical threats from China. Ongoing terrorism. Muscle flexing with North Korea and Russia and sometimes China. I would say terrorism ISIL is our current threat.

Short term would be ISIS inspired lone wolf attacks. Long term Iran, Russia and maybe China

This is a broad spectrum discussion. A lot of the "threats" to the US are largely based in either greed/envy or religious fanaticism.... The current ISIS group is "using" religion to mask their real motive which is power and control. Basically, you're not doing what we "think" is acceptable so we'll use a twisted interpretation of (insert name of religion here) to get our way. That way we can control you.
The Greed/Envy groups are basically torqued off because the US is more efficient (I know it seems contradictive! ) in it's protection of individual liberties.....and they don't like that.....which leads to violent behavior because they want power. I don't have a clue as to long term threats specifically, but viewing individual issues through that lense might help.

I think the biggest short and long-term threat are the ISIS groups that are now forming in this country.
