I recommend grounding techniques quite often. They help you stay within the present moment and away from any painful memories.

Awesome! I'm going to have to recommend this to a couple of my buddies to see if this works for them.

I have been on patients like me since 2009. I have spoken to groups like One Mind, the FDA, and America's Warrior Partnership symposium about the benefits of using the tools on the site, talking to other patients or just reading about their experiences with epilepsy or breast cancer. Learning the strategies for dealing with health issues like flashbacks, PTS , or any diagnosis you could likely imagine empowers you, the patient, to take charge and manage your conditions. As a benefit, you are donating your data for research. I served on their first Team of Advisors and I volunteer for this because I believe in their efforts to improve the treatment and management of chronic medical conditions. It is great stuff so I recommend checking it out!

I love to ride my motorcycle, another key thing for me is understanding predictable things that will trigger them and do the best I can to avoid or limit my triggers. Lets face it no matter what we do I think they will always be with us. The key for me is just trying to limit them. Each person and situation is different, I hope some of these responses helps.

Lauren Marsh Great site and I look forward to connecting with you all. We've got a program that we started up called Sponsor a Vet Life (SAVL) and that is exactly what we provide (peer-to-peer) support via an online methodology in the Virtual World that helps members with PTSD, TBI, MST, and that are severely disabled reintegrate back into social settings and group functions. I'd like for you to check it out one of these days on a Monday evening. Here are the directions to attend a webinar and collaborate:
If you are interested and would like to attend a Webinar first, we are conducting them on Thursday nights at 7:00 PM EST. Please go to this link:

Get the hell away as far away as possible from whatever is causing the flashbacks be it taking a bike ride, absorbing oneself in a hobby, or hiding out in my bunker. If it gets to be a bit extreme I have some veteran friends who are always standing to the side ready to assist.
