What are the best excuses you have heard for people not joining the military?

People always have some pretty colorful excuses for not joining the military. What are your favorite/ most absurd?

My favorite had always been, "I'm smart, I don't need to go into the military, I'm going to college."

This chick- "like I totally signed up and stuff, and like SERIOUSLY, for REALLY though- went to MEPS THREE times, and each time I found out I was pregnant" .....I knew I reconized her from somewhere. Whorely shit son!

Well I don't have great excuses, just let life get in the way. But I am in the process now, so we will see. Never too late, right?!

My older brother. He "Had some family issues come up" right before he was going to join. The biggest family issue we had was our dad passing when I was 12 and he was 15. He still uses that excuse.

I was 18 years old working at a sandwich shop, and when I told my coworker I was leaving for the Navy.
He said, "I would never join. How are you so okay with being expendable? Because that's exactly what you will be. They'll promise you a good life right before they throw you out on the streets when they are done with you."
At 27 years old, I am a happy, married, home owning E6.
... at 30, he is currently unemployed.

The excuses I have heard have been fairly legit reasons in all honesty. They have all been medical reasons such as a heart murmur or screws placed in an ankle or wrist or some lung / breathing issues. All issues that would disqualify the person upon a medical exam at MEPS.

"Not in my plan!" "US is a bully." "We don't need a military." - Disagree all. We should bring back the draft, with almost no deferments. Maybe draft people into the Reserves or National Guard. I was amazed at the number who got out of serving. I went in right after high school. We had the draft then.

1.) My girlfriend/ boyfriend doesn't want me to leave.
2.) I don't want to give up.... (smoking, dipping, drugs, or ....)
3.) I'll get in shape and enlist next year but never does
4.) Use multiple excuses just to make one big dumb excuse which makes no sense of why they can't
