What are the best excuses you have heard for people not joining the military?

Some of the excuses with my comments ( )

1. I have a bad back. (I can see that when you are weight l lifting you back must be killing you!)
2. I don't like to listen to other people tell me what to do. I am going to own my own business fixing cars so I don't have to. (which I informed this student if he is self employed EVERY person coming into his business is his boss and tells him what to do.)
3. I don't have a high school diploma. (Get a GED)
4. I don't want to get up at 0530 every day for four years. (It isn't every day after boot camp and it won't kill you, you will adjust in short order)
5. It doesn't pay enough (when you count room and board plus medical and a paycheck it is just as good of pay as any other entry level job.

"I almost joined, but first time one of them laid hands on me I would have messed up their day". LOL, I knew a few girls that were almost pregnant too. It sounds good back on the block though.

Bone Spurs

They don't pay enough for me to drag my family all over God's creation.
I don't want somebody shooting at me; St. Louis is a safe place to live.

It's against my religion to get up in the morning! and against my religion to cut my hair!

Worst one was “Only dumb people who can’t get into college join the military”. Okay buddy, have fun paying off student loans the rest of your life.

I've heard this line many times from the guys and gals. "I almost joined up."

Two of my cousin's daughters wanted to join but were afraid they would be labeled as being gay or a whore. I explained to them if you are not that now, then you need not worry. Do not be afraid of serving you country. You join for your own reasons, not someone else's reasons.

I was the first woman in my family to join the Military. Am very proud of my service as one of the last members of the Women's Army Corp (WACs).
