I wish we could give out a 1000 points for each photo. When I saw these statues, I had to pull out of traffic. It's hard not to get emotional viewing these images. It bring back sometimes painful memories.

The High Ground, Neilsville, Wisconsin A memorial to all veterans and those who gave their all Past Present and Future. While I post a picture of their sign, You have to see this place to appreciate all the memorials gathered in one location.

Here's an impressive one in former communist East Berlin, Germany. The Garden of Remembrance in Treptow Park where the Soviet Army buried thousands of its Soldiers killed during the Battle of Berlin, spring 1945. There are a number of statues, the largest of which (in background) depicts a Soviet Soldier holding a German child on his shoulder while slicing a swastika in half with a sword. Much of the material used in creating this monument was taken from the ruins of Hitler's chancellery.
(photo taken early spring 1963.)

The US Military cemetery in Saint-Avold, France. Saw it with my wife and sons while stationed in Germany. It was a fitting testament to the soldiers that rest there.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs I like that monument. Some of the WWII generation wasn't very accepting of Viet Nam vets when I got out.

A tribute to 2 soldiers who lost their lives in OIF 2003. The Reserve and Guard op-tempo increased dramatically starting with the first Gulf War. This monument located at the USAR Center in New Kensington, PA reflects a result of this increased role for Reserve and Guard units. The two soldiers memorialized were members of the 307th MP Company, USAR
