Without a doubt, there are truly some great resources available to active and Reserve component personnel and veterans. Of course, if folks don't know that they're out there, members and their families couldn't possibly benefit from some of these amazing offers and services. So, the idea here is to share those helpful tidbits of information, tips, links, lessons learned, processes, resources, wisdom and/or POCs to help members find the resources they need for their troops, their families, and to help themselves. Just a couple of quick admin notes, please make sure to share the source if known, and remember to post in accordance with RallyPoint guidelines. Well, I'm certain that will be a great way to get timely information, resources, and assistance to those who need it most, when they need it the most... so, if you have something useful, helpful, or good-to-know, please feel free to share. Alright folks, it's that time, so pull-up a keyboard and let's get this thing started; thank you for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

Finding a new job is rarely considered easy or fun. Add in a career change and the process seems even more overwhelming. This is how many veterans feel when they return home and start looking for civilian work. If you are transitioning from a military career to one in the private sector (or know someone who is), check out these organizations that are making a difference and helping U.S. military veterans find the right job.

To connect veterans with career opportunities in manufacturing and technical services and to educate employers about the tangible and intangible benefits of hiring veterans.
We are grateful when veterans return to American soil and are reunited with their loved ones. We demonstrate our pride and appreciation at local parades with handshakes and congratulatory pats on the back. We must take into consideration the unique challenges veterans face as they acclimate back into a civilian environment.

Veterans must reinvent themselves upon their return from duty. Their transition from military to civilian life is often emotional, confusing, and difficult. Emotions must be set aside as practical matters dictate their new method of survival. Veteran’s anticipate their return home as an opportunity to start new careers with stable incomes and advancement opportunities. They hope the skills learned while in the Armed Forces serve them well as they enter the civilian workforce.

Vet2Tech has the power to improve the quality of a veteran’s life by helping them translate their military occupational specialties (MOS) for new careers in manufacturing and technical services. Vet2Tech also provides access to job interviews with companies in the manufacturing and technical service sectors.

Veterans Green Projects strive to create and provide anywhere from 1 day jobs to full time careers for active duty military and veterans in search of full time sustainable employment. This is made possible through your support and business awarded in areas of e-waste recycling, energy auditing, resource management, power monitoring services, and Carbon Accounting. These projects offer opportunities for businesses to cut energy costs, identify unnecessary waste, reduce overall operating expenses, improve profitability, and help the local veteran community.

Transitioning from the military to careers in civilian business/industry, government and other careers often presents two challenges:

How to translate education, experience, skills and training from a military to civilian environment to be a competitive candidate for recruitment and hiring?

How to develop the soft skills necessary to succeed in a civilian corporate or government environment, particularly in business sectors not closely connected to the military?

The Veterans Career Transition Program, operated by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, is delivered at no cost to post-9/11 veterans, their spouses, and spouses of active duty military.

Veterans. I am part of a volunteer group of veterans inside of Cardinal Health that provides support to transitioning veterans. Cardinal Health is one of the top medical and pharma companies in the world and supports the veterans group mission of helping veterans to transition. All of our programs are free to you. Cardinal is not in the business of selling education. We just try our best to be good corporate citizens.

If you are preparing to separate, I'd recommend you attend our Veterans Professional Advancement Course; at no cost other than your travel to our corporate headquarters or attending remotely online.

It's a one-day bootcamp on transition topics, resume scrubbing, and multiple practice interviews. It is also a great networking opportunity. We have partnered with Huntington Bank and Stanley Steemer. Our main mission is to support vets and help them get in the pipeline for getting hired. Our team does its best to get you a job either at our company or someplace else. But we are also very direct in saying that you have a lot of work to do to prepare. We'll be there to help you.

Go to this site for more information: http://cardinalhealth.com/careers

--> Click on Military
--> In menu on right side of page, click on Resources and Support
--> Read article about VPAC and if you want to attend, click the link to send us an email.

The class is live in Dublin, Ohio, but can be attended remotely. In person is best if you can make it. We've had vets come in from all over the east coast.

We are working to take our program national and have classes at all of our company's 100 distribution centers throughout the country. That is in the future.

If you want more information, contact me directly here if you want.

As a technology staffing firm, we can't think of a more fitting mantra. We're extreme believers in technology and the incredible things it can do. But we know that behind every smart piece of software, every powerful processor, and every brilliant line of code is an even more brilliant person.

The intersection of technology and people — it's where we live. Backed by more than 60 years of experience, Robert Half Technology is the staffing expert to call whether you're looking to hire experienced technology talent or find the best technology jobs.

Unlike other staffing firms, we emphasize personal interaction. We individually interview all of the candidates we place and meet with our clients to better understand their needs. Because even with all of today's advances in technology, we know nothing can replace that personal touch.
