Without a doubt, there are truly some great resources available to active and Reserve component personnel and veterans. Of course, if folks don't know that they're out there, members and their families couldn't possibly benefit from some of these amazing offers and services. So, the idea here is to share those helpful tidbits of information, tips, links, lessons learned, processes, resources, wisdom and/or POCs to help members find the resources they need for their troops, their families, and to help themselves. Just a couple of quick admin notes, please make sure to share the source if known, and remember to post in accordance with RallyPoint guidelines. Well, I'm certain that will be a great way to get timely information, resources, and assistance to those who need it most, when they need it the most... so, if you have something useful, helpful, or good-to-know, please feel free to share. Alright folks, it's that time, so pull-up a keyboard and let's get this thing started; thank you for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

MilitaryWarriors.org is a great .org that will really help disabled vets and gold star spouses. I actually have a house that was donated to my family. If you do not have a mortgage and have a disability rating from the VA you can apply. They have houses all over the country and Will help you.

Operation Homefront does this too.

For vets looking to reconnect and serve a purpose again TeamRubiconUSA.org is the place for you to sign up. They have really saved me from feeling worthless in the past years since my med board.

USACares.org helped me when I first got out with paying a little on some bills while I waited on my VA Rating. OperationHomefront.org helped me as well and paid two months of my bills.

Wounded Warrior Project is okay, they are good if you want tickets for something. Same with IAVA.org,

For a great camp Family Warrior Weekends! The folks there are really dedicated in helping us. Kate is the best and her staff is absolutely wonderful. If you need some time with your family and a great weekend to reconnect this is the place for you. The time you will get with fellow vets around the campfire is a really wonderful experience and you will feel like you were back in. Here is the website to sign up as well as the dates. I promise you will not be disappointed.

August 15-17, September 12-14, November 7-9 These weekends are for Service Members and Veterans and their families (if they choose to bring them. All ages of children welcome!) who experienced combat service in Iraq and/or Afghanistan from September 2001-present.
Meals, lodging and programs for every member of the family all included for the weekend!
Please don't hesitate to pass this information and flyer alone to any/all OIF/OEF/OND families.

*** Legal Resources ***

Many civil legal matters can be handled by a military legal assistance attorney at no cost to servicemembers. Civil matters include landlord-tenant disputes, wills and trust, family law (including divorce, separation, custody, and child support), naturalization, consumer issues (including debt collection, consumer scams, identity theft), powers of attorneys, advanced medical directives (living wills), and asserting your rights under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

http://www.ncsc.org/topics/problem-solving-courts/veterans-court/resource-guide.aspx

The first veteran’s court opened in Buffalo, N.Y. in 2008. The veteran’s court model is based on drug treatment and/or mental health treatment courts. Substance abuse or mental health treatment is offered as an alternative to incarceration. Typically, veteran mentors assist with the programs. An important issue that has to be addressed is the eligibility for veteran’s courts in terms of whether charges involving felonies or crimes of violence will be allowed. The inclusion of offenders charged with inter-family violence is also of grave concern to policy makers.

Veterans across the nation are volunteering in Veterans Treatment Court and coming to the aid of their fellow veterans who are struggling with substance abuse and/or mental health conditions.

The United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims is a national court of record, established under Article I of the Constitution of the United States. The Court has exclusive jurisdiction to provide judicial review of final decisions by the Board of Veterans' Appeals, an entity within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Court provides veterans an impartial judicial forum for review of administrative decisions by the Board of Veterans' Appeals that are adverse to the veteran-appellant's claim of entitlement to benefits for service-connected disabilities, survivor benefits and other benefits such as education payments and waiver of indebtedness. In furtherance of its mission, the Court also seeks to help ensure that all veterans have equal access to the Court and to promote public trust and confidence in the Court.

We know that these department efficiency initiatives affect more than just our service members; they also affect our military families. It is also our responsibility to ensure military families are supported with appropriate tools, resources and information during these transition efforts. The Department and other Federal agencies provide a variety of programs for supporting service members and families during these types of transitions.

This is a crazy but incredibly helpful thread. I'm not sure I've seen such a well crowdsourced list of consolidated links. h/t to Col (Join to see) and CPT Richard Riley. Is there a way we can organize them? Maybe by posting them to their appropriate group pages?

That has been an objective for some time. We are working on it, but it appears to be a slow process - eventually WE WILL GET THIS DONE. We have commitment, we need opportunity and time. Thanks for keeping this front and center!

The best resources for Veterans and service members in my opinion are other veterans and service members. I have reached out to a lot of so called service organizations for help and gotten the run around every time. I have reached out to those in and out of uniform who I have known and I have always gotten some type of assistance. Soldiers deserve Soldiers.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation. We recognize that small business is critical to our economic recovery and strength, to building America's future, and to helping the United States compete in today's global marketplace. Although SBA has grown and evolved in the years since it was established in 1953, the bottom line mission remains the same. The SBA helps Americans start, build and grow businesses. Through an extensive network of field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations, SBA delivers its services to people throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U. S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
