Without a doubt, there are truly some great resources available to active and Reserve component personnel and veterans. Of course, if folks don't know that they're out there, members and their families couldn't possibly benefit from some of these amazing offers and services. So, the idea here is to share those helpful tidbits of information, tips, links, lessons learned, processes, resources, wisdom and/or POCs to help members find the resources they need for their troops, their families, and to help themselves. Just a couple of quick admin notes, please make sure to share the source if known, and remember to post in accordance with RallyPoint guidelines. Well, I'm certain that will be a great way to get timely information, resources, and assistance to those who need it most, when they need it the most... so, if you have something useful, helpful, or good-to-know, please feel free to share. Alright folks, it's that time, so pull-up a keyboard and let's get this thing started; thank you for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

*** Military Assistance Programs Available ***
The Military Assistance Project was established to provide free legal services for active duty, reserve, or veteran military personnel in the form of pro bono bankruptcy services. Our program creates partnerships between Military personnel, pro bono Attorneys, and the Partners in Philanthropy who provide funding for our organization. When bankruptcy becomes necessary, Military Assistance Project provides servicemen and servicewomen with attorneys and legal resources to enable them to obtain a fresh start.

The VFW offers a wide range of assistance programs aimed at helping veterans of every generation. Whether that means providing free, professional help filing or appealing a VA claim, offering scholarships for post-secondary education or providing emergency financial relief when times get tough, the VFW is there for America's veterans.

Mission: To support veterans and their families who reside in Sarasota, Manatee or DeSoto Counties who are confronting life's challenges.

Operation Military Assistance Program (OMAP) offers case management and financial assistance to very low income veterans and their families who are literally homeless or who are about to become homeless to enable them to obtain or maintain stable, permanent housing.

This Emergency Assistance program pays immediate, essential bills, including food and utility bills. This program is vital to a military family’s quality of life— we have paid a bill while the utility company truck is in the driveway ready to shut off their lights.

The formula for dividing reserve military retirements is based upon the same principle as active duty retirements, with one change - it utilizes retirement points, rather than months.

The old saying "You get what you pay for" is very rarely complimentary but with free online therapy you may actually be getting more.

Free online therapy is a relatively new innovation that takes advantage of the growth of the online community and the convenience of online services. While not constructed to take the place of traditional therapy, we here at Mytherapycouch.com feel that free online therapy may be a convenient and economical way to begin to address some of the needs of a potential therapy patient.

Before my husband deployed to Iraq for the second time, he and I went through a particularly rough patch in our relationship, and found ourselves fighting, literally, all the time. We fought about stupid things, things that didn't matter, but for some reason, neither of us were willing to let anything go. I remember mentioning this to another wife in passing, and how surprised I was that this build-up seemed harder than his first tour. I felt like I was at my wits end and worried about going into a deployment in this state.
