The best traits in an authentic leader, aside from what’s commonly expected (i.e. lead by example), is their ability to relate with any audience and no matter the circumstances while using discretion in the event of correction or coaching.

An authentic leader leads by example and will not ever ask his troops to do anything that he/she can or would not do. Also, an authentic leader makes sure his/her troops have everything to do their job and everything needed to be as comfortable as possible considering the circumstances and makes sure they are fed and hydrated.

The best examples of leadership to me would lead by example, you would never catch them sitting around doing nothing while they have joes working, youll find them right there with their soldiers showing them what work ethic is, and how they exppect the work to be performed, Whether the task is fun or an absolutely horrible task.
There are many traits that make a great leader, but this traits always been one I have always revered as important when defining a leader.

If you want to see an example of true leadership, watch Star Trek Pickard; particularly the first season. Patrick Stewart portrays an exemplary leader.
Another good example is Christopher Pike in Strange New Worlds (also, previously Discovery), played by Anson Mount. There's an excellent leader.
Another example is Jack O'Neal, played by Harry Dean Anderson, in Stargate SG-1.
I would also credit Col (Dr.) Sherman Potter, played by Harrey Morgan (formerly on Dragnet, playing Detective Bill Gannon).

Thats the military way and won't answer the question. Authentic Leasership is a different form of leadership then what we consider as members of the military believe leadership to be.

The best traits in an authentic leader are to listen to the needs and concerns of those you are leading. To truly understand and have empathy. To be a good leader you have to also be among the pack you are leading and become actively involved in all the matters at hand.

Be faithful to God and those He places under your authority.
